Help me get rid of the smell of poo

Yesterday I thought my ds was playing wonderfully with his happy street whilst I was cleaning upstairs. Then i smelt it and saw a covered in poo child at the bottom of the stairs. When I dared venture into my living room I saw a completely poo covered living room. He had rolled his happy street bakers van through the poo and there were track marks all over my 5 month old cream carpet. Not only that it was on the radiator covers , chairs, patio doors and he'd even tried to tidy the mess with a dustpan and brush.
Now i have gotten rid of the stains but cannot get rid of the smell, a combination of poo and various cleaning products trying to disguise it and quite frankly it is pi**ing me off now and making me feel quite ill. Anyone have any wonderful ideas out there??

professional cleaners

its what we had to do when we had a similar incident a few years ago

nothing else worked. Servicemaster did the carpets, cushions and curtains.

there is a carpet neutraliser that is available but sorry I have forgotten its name.

You also need a room deodoraiser too - not an air freshener as that just covers smells up.
Other than that get a pro carpet cleaner in.

Bicarb of Soda on the patches overnight and then hoovered in the morning should help to reduce the smell.

Bi-carbonate of soda is meant to work wonders; sprinkle over the offending areas and leave for 15-30 mins, then hoover up.

how much about do pro carpet cleanerpeople cost, room is about 20 ft by 12ft

you could hire a carpet cleaner from a DIY store or dry cleaners if you have one near you. Its fairly cheap and very effective. The best carpet spray cleaner I've used is a Halfords car carpet cleaner. Its brilliant and smells wonderful and shifts everything ! mind u I've only used it in the house, can't be bothered with the car
