what's wrong with my tumble dryer

Help! I have 4 children aged 2-6 and two have special needs so i have tons of washing and its hard for me to get to the launderette with no transport!

I have had to keep putting just a small load back in there and its therfore been "drying" for 4 hours now and its still damp. An extra large load before sometimes ahd to go on twice ( a normal sized load takes 160 minutes normally). But this is ridiculous.

I thought maybe the heating element had gone - normally the room gets very hot when the dryer is on, but the air i can feel coming from where the water bottle is and where the vents at the bottom are is quite cool, however the door feels a bit warm and when i open it the clothes actually feel hot even though they are damp.

It's only just over a year old. Its never been any good though, tripped the electrics after a month, engineer said nothing was wrong as it wasn't wet at the back, then eventually they came out and replaced the pump, thena week later it tripped again, they came out again, did something said i would definitely have no more problems then blew up, the came out again, still refusing a refund or replacement even though trading standards had been involved (although all they do is give you a draft letter and a reference number so the company know you have informed Trading standards), then i got a shock, and it was suppsoedly dealt with once and for all 6 months ago so i have only really ahd a working, safe dryer for 6 months but its out of guarantee!

Is it a condensor type or one that is vented to the outside?

I have a condensor one and found after I had had it for a year or two things were taking ages to dry. I was regularly cleaning out the fluff filter in the door, but when I looked at the manual, I discovered there was another small filter more hidden away, and that was completely clogged Blush. Once I had cleared that out, it all worked fine. Have you checked all your filters etc?

having a similar problem with mine - it's a condensing one. Had pump replaced last week. Didn't solve the problem. Today was told it is a faulty fan that has caused a problem with the circuit board and both need replacing (£300) - lucky we went for a drier with a five year guarantee!

I googled the model and warm wet washing - found the problem - but couldn't fix it myself. Good luck with yours - might be worth kicking up a stink even though it's out of guarantee?

My 'hidden' one is under the door at the front - there is a button to press and a section of the front swings out, and it is inside a little drawer underneath. But I expect they are all different.... Do you still have a manual for it?

£300 Shock! I think mine cost less than that to start with!

I guess that is including labour - had various men in my house for about 4 hours so far! Wouldn't be paying that if we had to cough up!
