Help! What has happened to Hotmail?

Is anyone else experiencing difficulties with Hotmail? I'm really worried as I went into my email account, the one I use for the Netmums website, and there was nothing in my Inbox or any of my folders. I have saved important info about the website in various folders, and have messages to sort out from members. None of it was there! I signed out and tried to get back in but now it's telling me there is an error and won't let me back in! Do you think I have lost all my past emails?

Also my other account, the one I use for friends, has been a bit inactive too. I've been expecting a few emails over the past couple of days but not received any. I usually have at least 2 new emails a day, but the past 2 days I've not had any. All my old emails are still there however. What do I do? Can someone email me so I can see if it's still working please? My email is [email protected]

S'alright I guessed! I got it fine - thanks very much! At least one account is working then! Just happens that the most important account, the one linked to the website, is down! I hope I manage to get it all back again, I'll try later on in the day. What a pain!

Don't think so Girly as everything else is fine. I just keep getting a message now telling me that my account is temporarily unavailable. I just hope that Hotmail hasn't got a virus and it's affected some accounts!

Not sure about hotmail rhubarb- but I have finally written you out a cheque for terri (very unorganised as usual). Should be with you next week.

Aaargh! Still can't get access to my account! Very annoying as I have loads of emails to reply to, and I can't even tell anyone that my account is down! I guess I should have used Outlook Express, at least then my old emails would be safe.
Am feeling very narked now!

Oh, I never thought of that, thanks JulieF! Cathy is my buddy and she's on her hols at the mo. If I still can't get on by tomorrow I'll try contacting one of the others to tell them what's happening.

It's not remotely possible you've not logged in for 90 days is it? I think that's the limit beyond which they delete the account. Hope not!

It's ok, I got on no probs today and everything is still there - phew! Teach me to use a back up though! It must have been the blaster virus attacking Microsoft I reckon. Still, alls well that ends well!

I haven't been able to access my MSN account for weeks. I had to pay to go to an internet cafe to check for emails and there was no problem then. But when I try and access MSN from home it says there may be a problem with our service or your internet connection, please try later. I've got on to BT and they said they can't help with MSN as I can log on to BT okay. Anyone else had this problem. Its driving me mad

I've got an email from MSN asking me to update my MSN messenger as it won't work unless I do, perhaps this is what is happening to you? Also I suspect MSN may well have had trouble with that blaster virus over the weekend, so it might take some time to get going again.

Thanks rhubarb but its been almost two months now that I've had trouble so I don't think its the virus. I used my account at the internet cafe three days ago and it was fine. I think its BT. I used to be with ntl but sinve moving house they don't cover my area and I think I will have to cancel the internet from BT cos I've had too many problems now.

Is anyone else having trouble getting into hotmail or messenger today? Mine keeps telling me I'm behind a firewall, which I'm not as far as I know. Any ideas?

WWW - Exactly the same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago!
Then my PC wouldn't let me log onto the Net at all. I thought it might have had something to do with that virus that has swept the world!

Anyhow.... I left my PC for a couple of days, then logged on and it seemed to have sorted itself out.

Sorry I don't have any advice other than logging off and leaving it for a day or 2.

sorry www--I'm not having that problem w/ hotmail & am rubbish with these things anyway. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon; I get v. antsy when I can't check email.

www, hotmail is just completely dead here and has been for nearly 24 hours - the page sits there empty, not even a "timed out" or "cannot find".
Weird.

Oops - wrong - just got this: "569 No Data
This Web page could not be opened with the specified browser request. Please try again later"

That was using www.hotmail.com - I also have this bookmarked - lc1.law5.hotmail.passport.com/cgi-bin/login

and that appears to be just the same.

Must be something I said!

Apparently it's an AOL thing - assume you are on AOL too?

There was also a link on google to a news item about AOL users only being blocked out but as it is an MSN news page guess what? We can't get it....hysterical cackles!

I've not been able to access my hotmail account for days - which was fine by since it was the contact email address I gave work whilst I was off

hoorah it's working. I had 7 messages. 6 of which were to tell me I had been sent a message with a virus attatched
I am so glad for virus checker software.
