Hi Im new to mumsnet and just looking for some advice really. I know there's some people who really dont agree with baby/child modelling as I've looked on some previous threads. Im not here to say whats right or wrong Im just asking some people who have experience in baby/child modelling for some advice.
My DS has been offered a contract by Rascals modelling agency in london. He is 3 months old but was offered the contract after recommendation from a photographer after a family photo session. Im not doing this for myself in anyway what so ever its not for the money if he was to earn money he would keep every penny of it I dont need to take his money. I just feel that as the photographer and now the agency feel he has something then it may be worth him having a go. Obviously if it ever got to the point he was unhappy and not enjoying it there is no way on this earth that I would make him carry on.
Im just looking really for some people who have baby models and also for the chance to get some experiences in the modelling industry. Also would be really grateful if anyone is with rascals and could find out what they are really like etc.
Im sorry if I've offended anyone and if people really dont like what Im doing Im sorry for that also. I would just like some peoples experiences, thank you in advance x

Hi TBC,
I don't know much about Rascals other than I believe they're one of the top child agencies.
DS (now 3.10) was signed to Elisabeth Smith when he was about 6 months old who I think are also very good. The only problem was that we had to submit new photos of him every month which I wasn't very good at doing. This meant he didn't get as many auditions or castings as he could have done but he still got chosen for catalogues and he was a body double for an TV advert. The money's pretty good (you will also get a chaperone fee for TV work) but quite often it's short notice. DS did enjoy it and I wouldn't have carried on if he didn't. The money that he earned is in his own account for when he's older. We chose not to renew his contract this year, simply because he's going to nursery soon and we won't be as available or flexible. Obviously I don't think there's anything wrong with child modelling as long as the child enjoys it, like you say.
Good luck with it.

Ah thank you, its nice to hear some good stories about modelling. Yeah we had heard that rascals were a good agency but its always nice to know from other people. I think we will sign him up and see what happens. Yeah they did mention the short notice but I do book keeping from home so am able to jiggle my hours around really easy. I guess we can give it a go for a year and see if anything happens. Thank you for replying
