Was browsing through my vast selection, of rarely used non-fiction books when I came across one rather nice little book (hymn book) in quite good condition.

Looked inside and discoverd that it's 153years old! It's been sat on my music shelf for years and I didn't even know it was there

impressive! I have a couple of things that were my parents when they were little. one has 8-year old hand writing in it indicating that it was part of my dad's "lending library", I think it's even got a library number (not sure who he lent it to - probably his teddies). It must be 70 years old at most - nowhere near as impressive as your find

Got an ancient thing sat on shelf in dd's room which my dad picked up from an antiques fair, it was 1600's when we had it dated
Apart from that, think it must be the very ancient copy of 'Girl' annual from 1972 !!

wow! 1600's - beaten me by miles.

However I'd say that at least 2/3rds of my music books are over 70yrs old

Have a little leather bound copy of Omar Khyaam (?sp) which my grandmother gave me. It belonged to her mother so must be getting on for 100 years old.

I have Chambers "Information for the people" dated 1842 its a collection of newsletter type articles ranging from biology to how to emigrate to Austrailia, tells you how many shirst and stuff to take and that the journey takes 4 months. The articles about the people of Africa and other natives are quite funny and very misguided. Also a 1910 AA driving guide. I'm sure i have an ancient Gaelic bible somewhere.
