Recipes for my new blender!

I got a blender delivered yesterday by my very mc friend! I managed to make a smoothie (glorified term for a milkshake if you ask me!) and I was just wondering what else I could do with my new blender - the instructions don't come with recipes which is a shame! For instance, can I mix pastry with it? Chop veggies with it? It's a new toy to me and I'm itching to find out new ways to play with it!

Ooooh ta - will try that one! Cold soup sounds pretty posh to me, is it what all the noveau people eat in London???
Prufrock you still haven't told me what that sugar is. Bet you can only get it in Sainsburys!!!

I wouldn't know about Sainsbury's - I only shop in Waitrose Dahling

I've actually googled this cos I realised I didn't really know the difference -I just buy it when the recipe says to!

Muscovado Sugar is very dark brown to black colored, unrefined sugar obtained by evaporation of cane sugar and draining off the molasses. Typically, its sugar crystals are enveloped in a thick coat of molasses and loaded with the richness of nutrients and minerals. It has a nutty, caramel flavor, natural moistness, and bitter molasses aroma.

Oooh, aren't you all posh then! I'm going to really pee you off now and ask what molasses are!

Do I look like a dictionary?

(Ooh I've wanted to do one of those for ages)

molasess is a thick dark brown almost black syrup kinda like liquid liquorice but yukkier. my mum used to make me eat a tablespoon everynight for my hair and nails. bloody awful

SoupDragon · 15/08/2003 08:32

You can, I believe, get molasses sugar too. Even darker brown than muscovado.

You didn't check out my smiley link! And I was so proud of it!

Rhubarb · 15/08/2003 10:47

Sorry Prufrock - I didn't realise it was a link! I wondered why you were so excited about it! I have just checked it out now and have to say how impressed I am! Now to return the favour, please could you do me one and look at Other Subjects/Help what has happened to Hotmail? (can't be arsed with links, I'll never do one as good as yours anyway Prufrock!)

Found this recipe on the internet... It's American so you'll need measuring cups.

Blender Chocolate Fudge Pie

2 1/2 cups sugar
7tablespoons cocoa
4 eggs
1 1/4 cups evaporated milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 8 inch pie crusts

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Put first 6 ingredients in blender and mix well.
  3. Pour into pie shells and bake for 35-40mins.
  4. Remove from oven while center is still shaky.

Or 7 ingredient blender cheesecake

2 (8oz) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon cornstarch (is this cornflour?)
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Graham cracker (digestive biscuits will do) crumbs (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Blend all ingredients together in the blender for seven minutes.
  3. Pour into spring form pan (with graham cracker crumbs pressed into the bottom for crust optional).
  4. Bake for one hour or until center is just about set.
  5. Chill several hours or overnight.

I think that means 2 8oz packs of cream cheese.
