Always thouight this was on the cards - shame but I really think he was using her to get somewhere in television - remember him from Shipwrecked on Channel 4 and he seemed to need to be famous and centre of attention then.

Feel sorry for their poor little baby.

Can I just butt in and say that I like celebrity couples like Ronan Keating and his wife (can't remember her name - will come to me in a minute). It is sweet that they were childhood sweethearts and he hasn't let fame get to his head and ditched her for a supermodel. Jamie Oliver and Jools are sweet as well, especially when she took a little baby to Posh and Becks do because she obviously did not want to miss out on the do of the year!

Bossykate - totally agree with you but have to say that I am a milliner and all I have managed to do is turn a fairly tidy house into an oversized toy and laundry room!

don't laugh but I think my fave couple are Fern Britton + Phil Vickery, they are just so nice and seem really down to earth and "normal" and they really love each other.

sorry, Lubu

I'm with lubu- couples who stay together from the beginning- another example Michael wen and his girlfriend (wife?) Otherwise I cannot bear reading about celebrity couples other than to see how vile they are. I used to like Kate Winslett, but have gone off her a bit.

I never really buy women's magazines though. I buy home ones as ds1 likes looking at pictures of stairs and washing machines. Last four magazines I bought: the New Scientist, The Homeopath, Junior (my secret's out I do read Junior- although I find half the featured families absolutley vile) and Private Eye. Strange mix?

aloha - I like Eve mainly for the fact it seems to have less that the usual 100 pages straight of advertisments / unrealistic fashion.
The 1001 interesting facts.
The real people section at the start
It's not centered on peoples sex-lives
It treats mothers and 30-somethings as real interesting people (and not in that patronising token-article type of way)

"will dewy, barely there make-up and a hint of nude lip gloss cut it for you if you are a 35 year old smoker with a child who either doesn't sleep or wakes up v. early?"

Aaarrrgh! No it won't! Tried looking for non-sparkly shimmery eye shadow on Tuesday - WHERE is it????? I don't want to look like a 17 year old!

I am a magazine addict and must admit I have never bought Eve. Sounds really good and I'm going to buy a copy today in my lunch break.

I will blame you all if I become addicted to yet another!

FairyMum · 14/08/2003 09:18

Well, I have to buy Heat,Now,Ok etc as they are my "trade magazines". I trade on Celebdaq and need to keep an eye on my investments,-)

Aloha, I like Eve because it isn't obsessed with sex - got tired of seeing the same two or three articles being constantly rehashed in the other mags! I also liked the stuff they did on how women in other countries/cultures feel about particular issues - that one seems to have disappeared and I'd like to see it back. Also love the useless info on the 1001 things every woman should know - waiting to see if they ever tell those of who have reached adulthood without learning to ride a bike(yes, really) how we can learn! It is really weird, but everytime I tell people this, a couple of people are always incredulous and then lots of other (usually women) say very quietly that they never learned either but would love to ride a bike if only they knew how!

Thanks everyone!

What about that little short guy from the Austin Powers movies and his 6ft tall girlfriend? And others equally unsuited are Sven Goran Eriksson and Nancy, Mick Jagger and whichever bird he's shacked up with, and Peter Stringfellow and his latest pull. I wonder if these men would get their gorgeous girlfriends if they were just ordinary Joe Bloggs in the street? Call me a cynic, but I think that if you took away the celebrity status and money from these men, their girlfriends would soon follow suit. Everything about the celebrity world is false, false, false. Even those couples you think make a lovely couple and are in love, such as Jude and Sadie, and Kate Winslet and Jim Threapleton, all succumb to the temptations fame throws at them. Some richer, more beautiful, more famous partner tempts them away and they go panting after them.

I hate celebs!
