sorry ...really wish they would put an ebay topic on here! really think it would be great.
ANYWAY..I wonder if anybody can help. One of my items that I am selling has 12 people watching it however only one bid with 4 days still to go. It has been on for a few days now..I was just wondering do you think these people will bid or just watching it? I am really worried as I would rather keep it then not see it sell well!

I find that people usually watch it so they can see what sort of price it will go for. When I watch an item, if it is still in my price range, I will place a bid close to the auction finishing.

I take it you didn't put a reserve price.

SleepySuzy · 11/09/2005 19:33

Sometimes I just watch to see how much they will go for, but a lot of people bid at the last minute. Wait til there's only a day to go, that will give you more idea.

liandme · 11/09/2005 19:34

when i am watching i usually place a bid in the last few minutes

SleepySuzy · 11/09/2005 19:34

Do you have a link?

laughinglil · 11/09/2005 19:35

I didn't think you could put a reserve on it under £50? sorry I can never do links on here but my user name is louisa.nippress

Yeah, they will be watching it to place a bid at the end, if it has not gone beyond what they want to pay. If you have already placed a bid, it goes onto your "my eBay" page anyway, so these are people who want to snipe to increase their chances of winning.

starshaker · 11/09/2005 19:39

SoupDragon · 11/09/2005 19:39

I also watch something in order to bid at the last minute. And then forget that the auction is ending.

I'm in a similar position - got 15 items on, 2 have bids (placed within 5 minutes of listing ) and 3 of them have '2 watchers' - but no bids on 13 of my items - hoping someone bids before the end (as the listing fees for them will be more than the items that will sell will make me eeek(

spidermama · 11/09/2005 20:08

You just never know until the auction LL. Four days is a long time still to go. I find ebay totally unpredictable. Sometimes there's a last minute flurry, other times nothing.

I've learned there's more interest in items if the auction ends in office hours. However there's more competition too.

SleepySuzy · 11/09/2005 20:08

High bidder on snowsuit

SleepySuzy · 11/09/2005 20:09

I've always had best luck if auction ends at 8ish on a weekend evening.

laughinglil · 11/09/2005 20:11

just noticed
who thinks mumsnet should have an ebay topic? really wish they had one feel like people will probably get bored of me asking so many questions about it! Its my new hobby though! hehe
