Anyone know about pretty bedroom stuff for girls?

Over the past few months, dd has said several times wistfully that her bedroom "isn't pretty". Currently it's tidy and organised fairly well (essential for a smallish room), but she's right, it couldn't be described as pretty.

She is currently in a cotbed, which she will outgrow in the next year....so a new bed is on the horizon. This will also mean new bedding. Would love suggestions on how to make her bedroom more pleasing for her - from bed, to bedding, to shades/curtains, canopy (?) or anything else that would thrill an almost 5 year old without costing her dear old mum an absolute king's ransom! Your best mumsnet tips on specific shops, mail order, catalogue etc are appreciated!

What colour is it? You could string those fairy lights around, they are quite cheap, you can get flowers/hearts etc. Paint it a colour she likes get matching duvet and a nice valance to hide any mess under the bed.
There are wall stickers, stickarounds that come off when she outgrows whatever fad they are...

sansouci your lucky, there's loads of pink about! I tried to ask dd today, what colour she wanted her new bedroom, as bump is a growing, and she's decided she still wants yellow like the nursery! trouble is, most stuff is pink or purple! argh!!!

I like this sort of combination a lot, everything in white with colour added only by textiles

I love the children's things at Designers Guild, but think a second mortgage is needed to purchase!

Does anyone have any experience of WigWam Kids? Is the quality decent? Reasonable value for money?

Laura Ashley has lovely stuff and not as expensive as you might expect, really. Esp pretty rugs. I think a pretty check and flowered rug, new blind (nice readymades at La Redoute) or a sheer panel (ditto) and some gingham curtains to match the blind, pink gingham bedlinen (Cheap and sweet at La Redoute) and a lovely iron bed from Ikea in white. You can buy very pretty mosquito net curtains from there which cost very little.

Monsoon Home sell strings of butterflys that you can hang up. You can also get strings of flower fairy lights to string around the bed head. John Lewis's haberdashery department sell butterflies that you can stitch onto net curtains too.
