I have to shift my room around to accomadate Peters machine. he needs to be next to a plug socket and has to sleep on left side of the bed. but with our wardrobes/chests of drawers and bed, even tho i can arrange the room so he is next to a socket, i cant get enough room for him to wheel his machine through. arrrrrrrgh!!!

i havent to get this sorted so i know he'll be ok when he comes home. dont need advice (apart from declutter declutter declutter), but just need to go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I know this might be obvious but can't you use an extension lead?

Twiglett · 08/09/2005 20:09

and you can sleep upside down if he doesn't currently sleep on his left

misdee · 08/09/2005 20:11

hmmmmmm extension lead across a floor with clumsey 3 yr old. 3yr old trips, peters machine which is attached to his heart, get yanked, causing peter to scream in pain and go back to hospital.

hehe, dont think we'll risk it somehow

tuck it underneath the carpet along the skirting board and tape it down?

misdee · 08/09/2005 20:16

carpet?

we have 3 sockets in the room, its just the lack of actual space, room is about 10ft by 12ft.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 08/09/2005 20:18

can you put wardrobe / drawers in hall or kids' bedroom?

Twiglett · 08/09/2005 20:19

maybe you could tack the extension lead wire up along the wall (top of skirting) with those little wire holding tacks you get from DIY shops

will shut up whenever you want me to

starlover · 08/09/2005 20:19

have a look for one of those online room arrangers.
you will need to measure your room and furniture though... and then you can use it to see how best to arrange stuff

misdee · 08/09/2005 20:22

we have no space anywhere. its a 3bed disabled bungalowwith no space for wheelchairs or all the other stuff we need.

kids rooms are 9ft by 9ft. dd1+2 share, they have bunkbed, a wardrobe and small set of drawers, thats it.

Could you not shove the bed against a wall and climb in from the bottom so there is room for Peter's machine/wheelchair. It would make going to bed a bit clumsy but it might help?

we also have a problem with a radiator being in the way. now how much would a fitted bedroom be (only joking as i need the cash elsewhere)

Can you describe the room layout in detail starting from the door going clockwise? It might help us work out a solution if there is one :D

Carla

misdee · 08/09/2005 21:13

door opens into thwe room, the door hits the wall on the left. on the left is a radiator taking most of the remaining wall. that wall is about 10ft. the next wall is where the head of our bed is, its 12ft, small double wardobe each side of the bed. then another 10ft wall with 2 windows. then the last wall, nothing there really, plug socket, chest of drawers. but no blooming space!!

OP posts:
LilMissy · 08/09/2005 21:57

How plausable would it be to rotate the bed? Or would that not help? Um.. What about putting head of bed in front of the windows? (less light but it might fit?) The only other thing I can think of would be to put the bed as close to the radiator you can on your side.

i'll have to make a scale model i think and fiddle about with it. argh!

OP posts:
starlover · 08/09/2005 21:59

try this

or google room planner for something similar

LilMissy · 08/09/2005 21:59

Good plan! Sorry I couldn't help.

what about selling the wardrobes and buying the cheap racks? dont need as much space cos they dont have doors to open. pushing bed up against wall is good suggestion

i used to love changing round my room as a kid (mainly to prove my parents wrong when they said it couldnt be done). i used to measure everything and then cut out little scale model bits of paper and arrange it all on a scaled down bedroom bit of paper. sad i know, but is easier than shifting furniture only to find it doesnt fit!

Skribble · 08/09/2005 23:17

I measure everything and make scale templates to and draw out rooms on graph paper.
