Something Is Eating My House!!

Help, something is eating my house! Every night I can hear something gnawing away in the wall behind my bed. The house is split level and the bedroom is on the ground floor and there's no access underneath. Whatever it is sounds MASSIVE, it's much too noisy to be a mouse. Any ideas? What can I do to get rid of it?

A bear?

Springchicken · 05/09/2005 15:26

No idea but OMG

Mum2girls · 05/09/2005 15:26

A rat ??

Get the environmental people out.

handlemecarefully · 05/09/2005 15:26

No, I am afraid that it isn't much too noisy be mouse. It is mice or rats (from one who knows). Contact Environmental Health Department.

handlemecarefully · 05/09/2005 15:26

Their gnawing does make a phenomenol amount of noise

cadbury · 05/09/2005 15:27

You'd be surprised how much noise mice can make actually. We had them in our loft and between our floor boards. It sounded like a heard of squirrils fighting. Get in touch with the council - their person will be able to help.

We had a rat in the loft once. Council charge to come out and deal with mice but not rats. They put trays of poison in the loft, told us to seal eaves and put wire mesh on drainpipes. They did not come back to remove dead bodies either!

Oooh, I'd better get onto the council asap, then! We have two cats - talk about keeping a dog and barking yourself.

Madmarchhare, our friends in America do have bears round their house, I was terrified, sleeping in their log cabin with only a pane of glass between me and the bears!

cats aren't that great at rat catching actually....

suedonim · 05/09/2005 16:30

Phone calls have been made. The Council doesn't deal with that sort of thing but they know a man who does. I've spoken to someone and they'll deal with it for the one charge of 35quid until the problem is sorted. We live in the countryside so there are lots of furry woodland creatures about (despite my cats best attempts!) but we've never actually had them move in before, grrrr.
