It's OK - but by the time it's defrosted and heated up you can probably peel a few spuds and boil them!

bunny2 · 02/09/2005 12:50

it's great - I hate mashing potatoes! Stick it in the mocrowave abd "BINGO"!

freeze it in scoops it only takes a couple of seconds in the microwave then and is dead handy to have in the freezer

strawberry · 02/09/2005 13:20

Do you mean homemade or shop bought mash?Personally I don't think homemade frozen is as nice as fresh but fine for putting on fish or shepherd/cottage pie etc. needs lots of butter adding. The shop bought stuff tends to be high in fat and salt and variable quality.

SherlockLGJ · 02/09/2005 13:21

STOP

strawberry · 02/09/2005 13:23

Sorry Sherlock - some of us are very 'Monica' about things!

dizzydo · 02/09/2005 13:24

Whose Monica?

SherlockLGJ · 02/09/2005 13:24

It brings back the most appalling memories.

dizzydo · 02/09/2005 13:25

Sherlock - do you mean school dinners!

strawberry · 02/09/2005 13:26

Sherlock - do tell

Dizzydo - monica from friends

The first year we were married, we stayed in England as opposed to going home to Dublin.

Was going to do the grown up thing and do one year on and one year off.

Christmas day in my vile SIL's ???

Frozen turkey

Frozen Veg

Frozen Roast Potatoes

and

Frozen mash

DH nicknamed her the Freezer Queen and it is now our private joke.

The only fresh thing on the plate was the ham, DH had insisted on boiling and baking and that was despite massive pressure from her to him, not to bother.

Now we know why.

dizzydo · 02/09/2005 13:30

Frozen roast potatoes!! YUK

SherlockLGJ · 02/09/2005 13:32

It was the last time I ever ate Christmas dinner in her house and every year with one exception, which I can't post on here because it would identify me, we have legged it to Ireland.

charliecat · 02/09/2005 18:06

So i can make mash and freeze it in portions? Really? And how do I reheat it please?

colditz · 02/09/2005 18:19

Freeze it into dollops and when you want to reheat it, put it in a plastic jug with 2 tabespoons of water per potion, and nuke it 'til it's hot!

fireflyfairy2 · 02/09/2005 18:23

I'm in Ieland too Though i suspect you're in the south... i'm North!

fireflyfairy2 · 02/09/2005 18:24

Was it the reference to Dublin that gave it away ?

moozoboozo · 02/09/2005 18:25

I'm a probably a snob when it comes to stuff like this, but imho, there's no excuse for frozen mash/roasties etc.

colditz · 02/09/2005 18:27

I love frozen roasties. They taste much better than my own. We don't have roasties often anyway.

moozoboozo · 02/09/2005 18:29

My mum is a freezer queen, and I have bad memories of childhood munching on undercooked pre packaged roasties. Yuk. My Mum+cooking=disaster

I'm no domestic godess, but I'm Martha Stewart in comparison (without the criminal record, might I add)
