Am really taken with a peugeot 206LX, have had a test drive, but would like to know, before comitting myself, whether there is anyone out there who has found it too small for their brood. There is only me and DD, so don't think it would be a problem, but would like some advice.

I have a Fiat Cinquecento - which is the most minute car in the world, and us it for me, dh (6'4" ds, 22 months, and my stepdaughter 11. we have even been away for weekends in it packed to the gills with pushchair, travel cot and clothes etc. We do keep intending to swap it for a bigger car (eg Scenic) and read all the MPV threads, but don't seem to get round to it!If there is just the two of you, I can't see the problem with buying a cheaper, greener, more economical car. I love being in my teeny Fiat with just me and ds - it's cosy and very, very easy to park and I can still fit a pushchair, the weekly shop and an amazing amount of junk into it.

Oh saw this and thought I'd give you my exp. Had a 206LX - beautiful, loved it, but as a main car - no. We had to change it after 9 months for a scenic. The Peugeot just wasn't big enough for all our stuff if we were going shopping, day out etc.. Fab little car though, all the bits etc and hold value fairly well. It was a 5 door too, but it's all down to the individual!! Good luck!

Forgot to say, if it's just the 2 of you- go for it!! It's a lovely car!

hopey I would never touch peugeot with a bargepole EVER again.
We bought a 307 from our local dealer, just a couple of months old. It completely packed in after six weeks and had to be towed back to Scotland from Newcastle.(One year on it is still in bits in their garage!)
Peugeot could not get it fixed and would not give us a courtesy car. The car was languishing in their garage and they had us over a barrel so we were kind of forced into trading it in for a new one. It has been nothing but trouble, including completely cutting out at high speed, for few seconds on several occasions. The garage cannot find the fault. Bits keep dropping off it. The door handle trims have been fixed 4 times but still keep dropping off. It's a nightmare.
Next time I will buy a golf.
Sorry this is so negative but It's only fair I should warn you of the other side of the story.

I have a 106, which is now 2 years old, and I completely love it. It is nippy, economical and all shiny (never had a new car before!). We took it on our family holiday this year (me, dh, ds and luggage) and had plenty of room. Although I suspect that we will have trouble fitting everthing in when the new baby arrives! But I suppose it just depends what you want from a car - As I say we can fit all the stuff for a family holiday (in a holiday cottage) and ds and I also go camping a fair bit, and that all fits too - don't have room to take dh though.

I love my car....

DH has a Peugeot 206LX (diesel) & loves it! Takes 2 kids to school every day with no trouble.

Only problem was he crashed it in May & we've only just had it back because they couldn't get a replacement radiator because of the French strike.

We have just brought a 206lx and love it. We also have a Peugeot partner Combi (large family car, which we have because of having two disabled kids) But the 206 is great when we only have 1 or 2 with us. I just have to pass my test now!!!! Getting plenty of practice in it though, which is great as my driving insturtors SP?? car is a 206
