I think this counts as trollish behaviour. It was when I was a teenager and I had stayed over at a bloke firends house and we had had a really nice chilling time listening to music and nattering all night. We went back to my mums house and I was just nipping in to tell my mum I was ok and I would be back later and my friend/downstairs neighbour ran out of her mums flat...said that I had just been in telling her all the juicy details of our night together bla bla bla and I came out a couple of minutes later to a reeling bloke wondering why id turned into a nutter/liar overnight.
I was .
Thankfully there hadnt been enough time for me to have indulged such detail and my face said I hadnt said anything but it makes you wonder what goes on in peoples heads.

PMSL laughing at 'she's the only one witth a bugaboo so make of that what you will'!

I once worked with a girl who became a good friend. She was fine for about a year then started telling me she was having an affair with one of the (older, married) men we worked with. I was horrified and used to look daggers at him but gradually started to realise this was all in her head... then she didn't turn up to work one day. When she got in touch, she claimed she'd been at London Bridge when an IRA bomb went off that morning, on the next train in the platform so affected by blast. No idea if it was true but possible. Anyway, got herself signed off sick with trauma. Was off a looooooong time and all this time I was having to do her job as well. Initially sympathetic but after this had gone on for months I started to get pissed off. Then the company made her come back to work or leave; she came back, was really weird all day, and ended up throwing a chair across the office. Those pneumatic office chairs are really heavy, no idea how she had the strength, but also really dangerous if it had hit anyone. She then buggered off and never heard from her again!

What IS a bugaboo??

I met a woman online... on another forum.. was niave enough to give her my phone number, OMG she never left me alone... ringing me at all hours of morning and night and wouldn't take no for an answer.. she claimed to have sent me parcles and cards for DD b'day and my b'day and nothing ever arrived (not that i wanted gifts..but the lies were so outta control!)
When i finally plucked up the courage to mention it to a mutual online friend she was releived 'cos the troll was doing it to her too!! And 3 others have since come forward.. she made things up about her children... even telling on one website that she had 3 when she just had 2. She said she had an abortion due to getting pregnant by an abuser.. but then she said she had a m/carriage... too many lies to keep track of. When the mututal friend said her DD had speech problems, so did the trolls.. when my DD was having behavioural probs..so was the trolls... when i got PG she said she knew i was going to get PG... I told someone I was having a boy.. she had befreinded this person and then told me she was going to put a bet on that i was having a boy... (CONFUSING EH??)
Anyway... after telling me a whole story about a lady on another forum.. i knew she was lying.. I PM'd the other lady telling her all about trolls stories as i wished someone had warned me to start with... and she no longer speaks to her either... I don't know how many other this troll has got her knife into.. but i now beleive that each and every thing she told me were lies... if only i had've opened my eye and saw it.. instead of living in fear of the phone ringing every day

I have a distant family member who has told the family, that he comes from a family of millionaires... and he is due to inherit £3 million when GP dies. That's how they could afford to give him one grand to buy an old car a few years ago. Unfortunately, the wealth didn't stretch to buying him a new house

I've just remembered a scary experience I had on a yacht with a weird fellow learner

we were learning to sail for 5 days and had on board 2 women who were friends two blokes and me in addition to the skipper and one of the blokes was evidently a total nutter/troll

can't go in to all the details but every time someone said something he echoed it eg I've got a dog called charlie then he had one, my cousin was killed in a car accidnet so was mine, my brother is a surgeon at St thomas's oh he must know my brother then etc to begin with we others just tried to laugh it off but he got odder and odder and being confined on a boat with him was really spooky and unpleasant..we eventually concluded that he had just been released from somewhere...

the week culminated with all of us managing to escape ashore without him and when we came back he was in the water in the harbour (although he said he couldn't swim) practically underneath a ferry...

he also had a way of taking every opportunity to grope...

omg thats a bit like that nicole kidman film ((scary))

aquamanda · 29/08/2005 14:46

I've just remembered the worst bit, the two friends shared the fore cabin and th skipper and this bloke each had the aft cabins and me and the other bloke slept in the saloon living area and this bloke used to get up in the night and stand on the hatch above our heads and pee into the harbour then come in and stand next to me....

I did another course for day skipper with a different company the next year in a different part of the UK which was brilliant so don't be put off!!!!

nailpolish · 29/08/2005 14:52

((shudder!))

admire you for doing a sailing course - could never do that in a million - had a bad experience in the caribbean, went snorkling and the boat went away without is (yes, exactly like the film open water)

cant go on the sea without panic attacks anymore!

sailing was my next thing, then diving

The all seem like very ill people don't they. The most recent one I met was when a trollish male aquantance of mine (always prone to eggageration) introduced me to his girlfriend who proceeded to tell the most outlandish stories and insist they were true. She also described herself as disabled, (though she had no mobility problems at all) and used this to launch an attack on other disabled people who were so weak to scrounge benefits when she'd had always been too 'proud'.

I challenged her on almost everything that came out ofher mouth and she bizzarely took this as a compliment, that I was engaging her in such a great discussion.

The last straw came when she said she had soem disease which left her infertile but also slowed down the ageing process, hence, she said, she could pass for much younger than she was. I put her right on that too. I had to, daft cow!

Cam · 29/08/2005 20:03

I think its all the most extreme form of attention seeking, hence the woman mentioned by monkeytrousers who "enjoyed" her lies being challenged - obviously gave her the opportunity to tell more!

I've had my fair share of RL trolls and they can be very scary people indeed

hunkermunker · 29/08/2005 20:08

Yep. One guy at university had three grandmothers "die" in our first year...then talked about his nans (as in seeing them at the weekend - live and kicking!) later on that year. There was a load of other stuff too - mental.

weesaidie · 29/08/2005 20:16

It is bizarre.

I know one girl who came home from uni and went to stay with her mum claiming her dad had abused her when she was 4/5.

Then she ran off to her dads saying her mum had made her make it all up or some such nonsense.

I met her quite recently and when I asked her what she had been up to she said she had been on a 'spiritual path...'
