I'm completely in agreement with you Miss Naughty but was fearful of being shot down. It has opeed my eyes this past week how some people couldn't care less about other people's feelings. (In a way makes it more interesting reading but am sure when it is my turn to get slated then I might not agree )

LIZS · 30/08/2005 16:31

LMN, partly unfortunate timing of Amity's post. It was mentioned on a thread earlier today the number of "child modelling" threads which crop up and are perpetuated by one or two individuals every now and again who never seem to post generally. Think there might be a suspicion of free advertising and attention seeking. Amity just happens to have hit on such a hot topic.

hi Amity1975

theres manchester how long would it take you to get there?

Amity1975 · 30/08/2005 16:39

Thank you for your KIND replies. I was shocked how some people could just be so rude to a new member who was asking a question. I was not looking for a fight but i refuse to be abused by bullies who think it is ok to treat people like that. If you don't stand up to bullies then they win, and IMHO trolls are bullies. IMHO a troll is someone who only posts on a thread to cause trouble and there were a few of those today. Manchester is again too far, but thanks for the answer. Does anyone know of any in the south east area but NOT London. My Oh won't let us go into London at the moment.

have you had a look through the archive on model agencies? there may be an answer there. from my ltd experience of those threads though, they very very rarely end happily (ie people have bad experiences and feel ripped off).

won't "let" you go into London? how strange.

trace2 · 30/08/2005 16:41

i dont but will look up some of them i have heard off,

LittleMissNaughty · 30/08/2005 16:42

I wasn't aware of that LIZS but maybe Amity wasn't either. Chloe, glad you said something too. I think that sometimes if you are not a regular poster, and I rarely post, people suspect that you are not a genuine Mumsnetter and you get a hard time.

Amity1975 · 30/08/2005 16:46

Thanks, i read the other posts and some were years out of date. i was hoping someone who had been through it could advise me. is it really worth doing? i do have my doubts.

As I've always understood it most of the work is in London or one of the major cities such as Manchester (ie where the agencies are based). Also they often start quite early in the day and at short notice so having a 4 hour trip each way on top would be a bit restrictive. Think any reputable firms would be honest with you.

Amity1975 · 30/08/2005 17:01

it is finding a honest firm to begin with. In Norwich there is models direct who i think are a bit shady but again it is just a feeling about them. i had thought about Sandra reynolds but they have casting days and it is £45 to go to one.

Amity My kids are models, and there agency is not in london, BUT all the work is.

I realise you have had a pasting today, but unknown to you there are always threads on child models and it is a pain to us oldies who feel we are always answering the same old questions. You looked at old threads (yes some are years old, but the information is still valid) had you read them you wold have found answers.

IMHO do not touch models direct, I would also advise NOT to do it at all. It is a pain n the neck.

My girls agency is MOTJunior, do a search online and send your pics off

Good Luck

Fimbo · 30/08/2005 20:48

Amity1975-I live in Norwich too, the Evening News sometimes has children in it modelling clothes and the agency is in Norwich - sorry I don't know the name but its not models direct. Perhaps if you contacted them they could tell you which agency they use?

csa · 31/08/2005 10:07

[creeping back very softly and quietly hoping no one but Amity will notice ] Amity1975, there is an agency called WhizzKids in Cambridge. don't know whether they do Norwich. they do films/tv/modelling i think. Their number is 01223 416474. give them a call? i think they do a yearly recruitment/photograph thingy sometime in sept/oct. and they are very nice people. good luck!

I think the problem is that norwich is a long way from most places

the Pat Keeling Agency is a provincial one with a decent reputation I think (but it's Leicester)

God, you bunch of swines - why be so nasty to someone for asking a simple question? FFS!

galaxy · 31/08/2005 22:17

I just read this and thought the same hm

It's threads like this that give MN a bad name... Just stop the ceaseless troll-hunting and relax a bit!
