DP always delightly informs me he has emptied the clothes horse of all the clean clothes. And it is folded away neatly in the corner, why don't I ever get round to doing that?

Um, because I put the dry clothes away and replace them with new, freshly washed clothes?

He also complains that clothes don't spend enough 'time' in the wash. I mean WTF? This usually is said when I am asking him to do a load.

My dh says that it is physically impossible for men to see things like tea stains or crumbs on kitchen work surfaces.

He is also keen to point out that men can only do one thing at a time, and he has to remember to breathe (and he states this to anyone who will listen, and is PROUD of it!!!)

QueenOfQuotes · 23/08/2005 23:54

Thoroughly cleans all the worktops when he washes the dishes.
Irons without being asked to, and if he takes clothes upstairs for me puts them away straight away.
Hangs washing on the line without being asked.
Hoovers and mops floors (again without being asked).
Makes the boys lunches if I'm busy.....

Should I go on - or am I going to get hit over the head with a hammer to shut me up????

Queens - can i have your man and you can have mine? .... but then again ill be pining for him ..

no mine a good DP as he cooks and looks after baba and he only does things if i tell him to do it..no probs with that, but if i dont tell him then nothing will be done

janeybops · 24/08/2005 00:02

Never cleans all the worktops IF he washes the dishes.
Irons with lots of moaning as I refuse to iron his shirts.
If clothes are waiting on stiars to go upstairs steps over them several times before I take them up.

Hoovers whent he floor is very dirty and we have guests arriving and if i ask him to.
Never mops floors
Waits for me to tell him make the kids lunches even if I am out, so I have to phone and tell him what exactly to give them.

Shall I go on?

My dh says that he knows we've got a kitchen somewhere because he's seen it on the deeds of the house ...

DH looked after DS2 yesterday while I went to work. On arriving home I asked, 'How much lunch did he eat?'. The reply? 'Lunch? He didn't ask me for any!'. Would that be because he's TWO YEARS OLD?

munz · 24/08/2005 13:44

lol, well yesterday I came home to hear u take me for granted, u don't appriciate anything I've done in the hosue - all because I forgot to thank/reward him for tidying the cupboard out.

must admit my DH is excellent when he's home and i'm not he cooks cleans washes etc even cleans the oven (I can't be arsed) but then he runs in and tells me - why do men do that?? and I have to go out say oh yes well done thank you darling sit down with a cuppa now etc.. yet when I do it all I get is a bag dumped somewhere else and more mess! still i'm thankful he at least helps me out.

mistyblue · 24/08/2005 14:13

My dh has certain things he does.
He will load and unlaod dishwasher
wash kitchen floor
empty bins
hoover
he does his own ironing
occasionally cooks
cleans bathroom
mows lawns

I just tell him he does it better than me,to boost his ego, works everytime!!

My DH ( a SAHD) is a brilliant cook and is shaping up as a gardener. He's completely oblivious to mess/housework to the point that when I got home from work the other day I found DS's pooey body suit and trousers in the corner of his room. DH said "I wondered what that smell was". He wasn't kidding.

That aside he's fantastic with DP and does all the male stuff (driving, spider and mouse removal, digging) apart from taking the bins out.

alicatsg · 24/08/2005 14:29

oh and I did a milk bottle experiment (how many will it take before he puts them outside the front door...) and it got to 31 I think before the milkman rang and asked for them back. He just doesn't register these things.

perhaps I should praise mine a bit more then? lol.

my dp will clean the kitchen very thoroughly but never ever does the hob or oven (even when it's covered in burnt on splatters), he claims that as it is frequently heated up there won't be any bacteria on it, and why would it matter as food doesn't directly touch it...teehee
as for washing..i don't trust him at all..i once went away for a week, leaving a post it on washing machine door for him to hang it out, and came back to find it still in there. It took several boiling soaks to get the smell out of the clothes, and the washing machine still has a faint whiff of nasty damp about it..grrr
he also washed all his silk ties at 70 degrees and ruined them..
so thats my job now!
