I didn't - just had to flick one off dd2's back and it's left a little hole .

My interesting new fact for the day (it really is quiet on here isn't it??).

You must be bored! Saying that, I must be too! Interesting fact and one I didn't know though so cheers.

Did you know house spiders have deadly venom but they can not penetrate the sking so therefore are not harmful?

Blu · 23/08/2005 16:28

I did.
there was a big plague a few years ago, and the little beasties landed all over your arms and bit you.

chloe55 · 23/08/2005 16:28

Or should I say SKIN!

flashingnose · 23/08/2005 16:29

Gosh, is that true about house spiders?

Another reason to run screaming from the room then.

Apparantly so - actually I'm wrong I think it is the daddy long legs - yep - it is, just checked with DH!

flashingnose · 23/08/2005 16:39

Good grief! OK, I'll start running away from them as well then .

that's why you need a licence to keep one

Caligula · 23/08/2005 16:41

Yes. And they also have the highest number of sexually transmitted disease of any insect. They go in for orgies and all sorts.

flashingnose · 23/08/2005 16:41

What, a ladybird??

OP posts:
ninah · 23/08/2005 16:42

yup
are you saying you haven't applied?

chloe55 · 23/08/2005 16:45

My mum told me green ladybirds were poisonous - is that true? Can't believe they bite though, little buggers - I always thought they were so cute and pretty

ThePrisoner · 23/08/2005 20:58

My dd had a ladybird on her hand and, as many children do, was "oohing" and "aahing" at it, until the naughty bug attached itself to her hand ... as a good vegetarian (!), I tried to blow it off (sounds rude, sorry), but I ended up having to flick it several times very hard to finally dislodge it.

That little ladybird certainly didn't fly away home, it went to ladybird heaven. Dd had a nasty mark on her skin, and ladybirds are no longer invited to our house to play.

From a bugs site:

They positively swarmed in some places in 1976. They are sweet in 1s and 2s but not in a gang
