Things to do in Worcester over Summer

Well, am getting more settled in Worcester now we've moved. It's been two weeks or so now, and although we've still got lots of boxes, they're all hidden away in the garage so it feels a bit more home-like.

What I have noticed though is that everything seems to shut down for the summer holidays even for toddlers! All the parent and toddler groups, swimming lessons, tumble tots, etc (okay the swimming and tumble tots were expected, the parent and toddler groups closing down was a bit of a shock) have shut up shop until September and I think I'm going to be climbing the walls by the end of next week! All the holiday activities seem to be aimed at 5+ which isn't very helpful.

So, can anyone recommend activities that are running during the summer in Worcester - toddler groups, good playgrounds suitable for little ones (our local one seems more geared for older kids), indoor soft play areas for our current changeable weather, etc. I'm in the Warndon Villages area if that helps.

Any other suggestions on how to keep sane in a new area when nothing seems to be running is also very welcome. (I have joined the local library - that's one day a week sorted!)

Thanks.

Wacky Warehouses?
I have friends there but they have older boys.
Toddler groups will all stop. I moved here in the summer and it was lonely time.

Try train spotting at the station?Mine love that

feed the swans at the river and then a picnic in the Close?

The art gallery in Worcester has art classes for 0-3s and 3-6s - do they stop in the summer too? Even if it does you can use the activities room.

In my experience practically every small child is down at the fountain next to the quay restaurant on the towpath on nice days (bennets farm ice cream too).

Oh and I know someone who goes to monkey music. The person organising the classes is Kari Vaughan (Tel: 01905 429546).

(no I don't live in Worcester but my mum does!)

Bit farther afield there is lots to do - have a day at Stourport riverside - fair, park/amusements, nice walks etc. Safari park near Kidderminster is great for a day out. Take the kids for a run up the Malvern Hills (if they are big enough. Droitwich has a lido (outdoor pool) - great in hot weather but get there early! These suggestions are a bit outdoorsy - can't really focus on inside activities when weather is so great...

Or why not see if we can do a mumsnetter meet-up? I'd really like to meet some local mumsnetters and it would help you meet some new people.
