Hi, about to redecorate dd1's bedroom (finally getting rid of yellow walls & teddy stencils ) & wondering about one of those raised beds with desk/sofa/just space underneath to get more out of the room but wondered how long before they're likely to tire of them. She's 7. Any ideas please?

I think they can be useful if you're short of space. Does she have friends/cousin etc to sleep over in which case they are good if you have the sofa bed underneath type.

But it is very tedious making the bed, when they are ill, and I found the novelty wore off fairly soon...on balance I wouldn't have one again if I didn't have to!

OK

Sis and I shared a bunk bed until I was 24 (she was 22).

I am SO ashamed of that confession, but I guess it says they last!!

Daughter aged 9 and Son aged 7 both have bunk beds with full desks underneath... these are brilliant for them to sit and do their homework or drawing on...
I agree the bed making is a bit difficult... but for us they're brilliant....

thanks - looks like they're worth considering!

If you have the room you get double ones, more room for boxes of books and teddies and a bit cooler when older.

Even with a single bed you can add sofa bed or desk underneath to make it more mature in a few years. DS 8yrs loves his as he has his desk and his playstation under it and a pile of cushions which he calls his cosy corner.
