Wooden blocks

Ok this likely a stupid question

My daughter is almost 10 months I would like to get her some blocks for Christmas as I think she would enjoy knocking them down and later building with them

I've seen quite a few sets of blocks that look good but mange of them say either from 18 months or from 2 years

But why?

The only thing I can think of is maybe some pieces are small, but they don't looks small? Am I being really thick here?

I'd like to get something she can enjoy for a few years if possible

Also if you have any recommendations on sets you have please let me know Smile

I would say don't take the age recommendation as law. Most tiys day 3 year + but my little one certianky had them before then, just use your common sense.

We got some small bricks from argos for about a tenner, chad valley I tjink and they are good for younger ones as if they are thrown they are smaller or don't cause damage!

These ones are nice. I imagine it's just the cover themselves. Maybe in case they topple into the child? We had them from before 1 without issue.

If it were due to small pieces it would be 3+. It's just a recommendation based on co-ordination skills but all of mine could stack wooden blocks by then.

I agree with @PoppityInThe said. Toys often seek to suggest ages that seem old for the skill involved.
