Just curious how much per month do you spend on clothes/toys/books/nappies/going out with your toddler? Mine is 2, a girl

Don’t add it up but probably

  • nappies £12
  • food -not sure as she just has what we have, do buy a few Organix snacks - maybe £10 on top of normal food shop
  • swimming £20/month (in non-Covid times)
  • Rugby Tots about £30/month
  • clothes are mainly hand me downs, charity shop buys or gifts. Shoes are brand new from Clarks though. Maybe averages at £10/month
  • a few 50p books and toys from charity shop -again maybe £10/month
  • art & craft supplies / paint / stickers etc maybe £5/month
  • Days out tend to be National Trust (we are members) or cycling but we do occasional farm visits etc which are about £20 a go
  • She has a baby-chino & gingerbread man when we have our weekend coffee so again about £10/month

-Currently saving for her big birthday present (climbing frame) which is obviously an expensive item.

Big expense is our nursery which is £1000/month for 3 days (we’re near London)

Oh and probably £10/month full fat milk specifically for DD

namedchangedforthisone · 26/04/2021 18:33

Far more than i dare actually add up but probably around £150-£200 a month

namedchangedforthisone · 26/04/2021 18:33

Pluss £800pm for nursery

Thank you @Lostinthewilderness @namedchangedforthisone for your replies.
I'd say it's the same with me @namedchangedforthisone
I obviously think my expenses are reasonable, partner doesn't quite agree with me, so just curious how it is with others.

@Lostinthewilderness that's really good price for swimming! When I checked swimming classes around here they were much pricier

Mine are 5 and 7 so no nappies etc

I don't buy toys or books monthly, do ppl buy that stuff every month?Hmm

Clothes- since Christmas I have probably spent 50ish
Pre covid we had more on activities, gymnastics, swimming etc
Gymnastics- 10 per week (1hour class)
Karate- 10 per week (2 x1 hour classes per week)
Swimming 95 per term for both of them (6weeks)
Football club is 30 for the year.

When my DD was that age, childcare was the biggest factor - nappies/wipes etc I got from Aldi and yeah, prob around £12/month, 2 days/week childminder and 2 days/wk nursery was approx £800/month.
A lot of clothes, toys & books were either hand me downs or gifts - I didn't need to buy that much really.
Food wise - she ate what we did, maybe a bit more on whole milk and snacks but not really noticeable.

RainbowMum11 · 26/04/2021 23:45

Oh and swimming - I took her for free on my membership until she was old enough for lessons on her own so that didn't cost anything at that age either.

Lostinthewilderness · 27/04/2021 07:58

@mayflower21 that swimming is at the local (grotty!) council pool
We used to do AquaTots / WaterBabies which was more like £16 per class! But once she turned 1 we swapped
