I am new to this and posting as a grandmother to a beautiful 18m old girl. My daughter's ex (one night stand, never in a relationship) is dreadful at seeing his daughter and probably has only seen her about 10 times in her life. If she took this to court do you think that is reason for them to stop contact. When she does see him, she is actually petrified of him. My daughter has done her best to keep asking when he is seeing her but there is always an excuse!

The course will always support access to the child for both parents unless there are concerns about violence or abuse.

Can't she just stop contacting him? Your DD isn't under any obligation to promote contact, she just shouldn't prevent contact if the Dad wants to see the child unless she has concerns about abuse.

That's what I thought. She has stopped asking him now and it has already been 9 weeks since last contact. Thanks Smile

No worries, it's usually better to put the ball in their court and let them mess up themselves than actively preventing anything in my experience. It takes the stress away from your DD and the baby as she gets older and you never know, the doors open if there's a chance they may actually shape up and surprise you

Good luck to you all!

She can’t really take him to court to stop him seeing the baby. But she can make him take her to court to let her give him access to her. If he’s not interested then just stop contacting him
