My DD (6) occasionally humps her teddy, I am just wondering if this is normal for a child of her age to do? Can't stop stressing. Thank you

@StormsDontLastForever
DS does this occasionally too! He's 6. I 'm hoping it's kind of normal. Maybe others can advise? Maybe it's like when young animals do it! Like a kind of growing up coming of age thing.
DS is awful lately for constantly fiddling with himself and I have to keep telling him to stop! It's unsettling.

what has this got to do with one child families? Confused

DC discover nice sensations in their body - it’s not weird or a sign of anything. But you do need to explain that it’s not public behaviour and they should keep it to their bedroom. It’s very similar to small boys fiddling with their genitals - not weird, but not socially appropriate so redirect or remind.

I think it's normal for little children to want to explore their bodies. I agree it looks disturbing from an adults perspective but it's something totally innocent. She's realised that it feels good to touch that region. Don't make her feel ashamed, just make sure to set boundaries e.g. She can only touch privates when she's in her room, when she's alone etc. I wouldnt tell her to stop. I'm sure it's a phase and she'll grow out of it soon.

I used to do it from the age of 5, I'm 34 now and over it :))

I used to have a big brown teddy called Bruce and I used to go show jumping on him and we won all the rosettes and all the medals and he was the best horse in the whole wide world ever, even though he in no way resembled a horse. A few years ago my mum told a friend, infront of me, not to worry about the friends grandchild humping teddy's because she (points at me) all do it and she (me) turned out OK. 30 something me was absolutely f*cking mortified that my mum thought I had been humping poor Bruce when in reality we were so good at show jumping we were representing the earth at the universe show jumping competition!!!
Grow ups have absolutely no idea!!!

I used to “ride” the back of the sofa in full view of the high street until I was about 12. In my head I was showjumping, going on cross country gallops, winning rosettes etc etc. I was also guilt tripping my parents so they might buy me a pony to stop me practising on the sofa.

To the rest of the world I was vigorously humping the back of the couch...complete with sound effects and a look of ecstasy on my face...especially when “we” won the Olympics! Yes! YEESSSSSSSS!!!!

Oh my god i am wetting myself at the show jumpers being mistaken for humping 😂

OP try not worry, children can be strange little things, if it continues into their teens when they're aware of what humping is.. I'd start to worry!
