Hiya I'm a first time mom. Do you think I can give my baby 2 months old wean him into baby rice or do you think it's too young?

Too young - tummy isn't ready for solids at that age. Is there a particular reason why you want to wean?

Too young. The reason they say 6 months is because there is a possible link between early weaning and allergies and long term digestive conditions. If your baby seems hungry, give them more breast milk/formula. There is more calories in milk than baby rice anyway.

What are the guidelines in your country?

Stuckforthefourthtime · 14/09/2018 14:13

Way too young! You risk giving him allergies or at minimum a very upset stomach. Wait until at least 4 months, and even then most of his energy should come from milk.

Why are you thinking of starting early?

LusaCole · 14/09/2018 14:15

The recommended advice is to wait for six months. I know lots of people who did it a few weeks earlier, but two months is very young. Milk should be all your baby needs at this age.

Is it your mum or MIL’s suggestion by any chance? The advice has changed since their day (based on research which wasn’t available at the time).

With my first I gave her at 2.5 month but looking back it was completely unnecessary.. I was just excited to try new things. With my second I waited until 5-6 month.

My daughter had her first spoon feed at 6 weeks and she's just fine.
