The headline says it all.....although as my post said yesterday, we are IVF and have one last ditch attempt at a second baby. I am not sure if i want one, DH doesn't really but will do it for me. I am just worried I will spend my life regretting it if I don't and we both worry about DS (18 months) being alone. Any advice would be gret xxx

Very few people regret having a child, far more regret not having one.

Are you saying one last round with existing embryos?

Not really advice, but nobody I know who has had a further child regrets it, but have a few friends who regret not having another one.

I think the one thing you can be sure of in life is that your ds will be happy in life with or without siblings. Make any decision based on what you and your dh want, not in reaction to worries about whether he will want a sibling in later years. Having one child in your family is lovely, and they need not be lonely as a child or later

I think lots of people have fears about having a 2nd, upsetting the family harmony a change to the dynamics etc. If you decide to try and it works you'll have 9 months to come to terms with it.

I have serveral dc but I don't think having childeren is the be all and end all of life. Having just one child can be a positive thing just as not having can be too!

I think it's harder if you already have embryos as a friend pointed out to me destroying them is a tough decision as they are potential full siblings (she didn't want to donate for those reasons).

Getting pregnant has been a tough road for you so step and think if that is colouring your views, or is it case of time is getting on and you'd rather have had the luxury of waiting for a bigger gap etc. The early years are tough.
