Not eating at nursery

It's early days (10mo DS has just completed his third full day). He seems reasonably ok with the whole experience so far, but is hardly eating anything or indeed having much milk.

He's not an amazingly keen/adventurous eater anyway (would rather play) but it is a bit of a worry.

Anyone been through this and is it likely to just be a settling-in thing?

Could be a settling in issue if he seems ok generally I wouldnt worry too much, see how he goes over the weekend. Do you send food in from home or does nursery provide, sometimes a familiar food / bowl / spoon / beaker settles little ones faster wrt eating.

He is of course prime age for teething which could also be a factor, as well as the hot weather and new environment, just watch his fluid intake or signs of dehydration if he's not drinking too much.

Relax, he will eat and drink as much as he needs, he will make up for it when he gets home. He is just enjoying the busy new environment, he will settle down in a week or two.
You may find he may eat different new things at home now as he is busy playing all day at nursery and is hungry when he gets home.
When my children are picky they tend to be not very hungry, give them a busy day and they will eat anything.
Good luck with nursery, enjoy the fact he loves interacting and playing with the carers and other children and remember children will eat and drink when they are hungry and thirsty.

i had this with my dd..she didn't eat a single thing at nursery for a good 4-6 months; luckily she only went 2 days a week..so she didn't starve! anyway one day it just sorted itself out...no particular reason, and now she's fine..still a bit fussy but generally eats there most of the time now. it's really easy to say don't stress, but honestly, if they're hungry they will eventually eat so try not to!

I had just the same with my DS, in the first two weeks. Nil by mouth.

He isn't very big so we were worried. I ended up taking in my own food and sat there with him one day and fed him myself. It worked and he ate after that.

After a month or so I stopped taking in my own food and he went great guns. He always eats everything now.

It's hard for them at first and most don't eat much.
