Nursery fees in Highbury

Hello. I'm not sure of this is a reasonable thing to ask, would anyone who has a child in a nursery in the Highbury area mind letting on how much it costs per day?

My first baby is due in November and I've told work I'll go back after taking the full year of maternity leave. If I did go back, the baby would have to go into a nursery as DH works full time and we don't have family close by who could help out. I don't earn very much, and I'm starting to wonder if there will be any financial sense in returning to work as I get the impression that nursery fees (or alternative childcare costs) may be more than I actually make at my current job.

Thanks.

I can give you a rough idea from living in the area for the last few years - you're looking at anywhere between £45 and £55 per day. Full time nursery would cost you at least £1,000 a month I'd have thought.

Hi,

There is a really cheap nursery in Highbury called Conewood, which is a community nursery. A friend uses it and loves it. I pay £975 a month for one in Dalston (full time) and my friend worked out that hers C(Conewood)is cheaper on a daily rate basis (she does 1.5 days).

I think you would struggle to get below £900 a month for full time.

My DS has been at completely fabola nursery in Tufnell Park since he was eight months. He loves it, so do I, but bugger me, it's expensive - £1100 per month, for full-time. DS's father and I both get the first £243 tax-free through childcare vouchers, and we split the rest (we're separated) but still - not a snip, exactly. Highly recommend it though - Leaping Lizards, just off the Holloway Road.
