Good Nursery but terrible food!

Not sure what to do.... DD 11 months has been attending nursery for 3 weeks for 3 days per week.
The nursery seems to be pretty good in all areas except for the food.
Nearly every pudding is cake with custard. And mid-afternoon snack is sandwiches with the following fillings: cheese spread, chocolate spread, or honey (which i thought they couldn't have until 12 mths anyway!)

Not sure how to approach the nursery about this issue?

Sounds a like our nursery! DD2 was given burgers and sausages during her first couple of weeks there (aged 9 months!) and I was a bit about it. But DD1 has been there for nearly 3 years, and she's happy, healthy and safe so I've tried not to let it bother me, although it did at first. I think the nursery wants to provide food which the majority of children will actually eat and that's ok with me - it's only for a couple of days a week.

Cake & custard and sandwiches don't sound so bad as long as they're being offered with other things - if they're freshly made you'll probably find the nursery is offering a nutritionally balanced menu even if they don't offer up the same foods you would at home. Remember little ones need carbs and fats and protein as much as they need fruit and vegetables.

Hope your DD has settled in nicely!

I might have a word about the honey though - I thought they weren't suppose to have it in the first year because of botulism?

Our nursery asks for parental input for the next season's menu twice a year. Maybe yours does this too?

The puddings should have a bit more variation. Healthy enough for children but a bit repetitive, like the snack. One reason why could be price. They can both be done quite cheaply. What is the rest of the food like?

And under ones should not have hunny!

She was given Bacon Grill the other day - I couldn't believe it!!

i work in a nursery myself and am horrified to hear of the use of honey, have a word with management straight away! take supporting documentation to demonstrate your reasoning,it may seem uncomfortable but this is your child and you have the right to express your concerns.
