Can anyone - especially nursery staff -help please? My ds has to move nursery due to us moving house. There are 3 staff in particular who have been fantastic and I'd like to get them a little present. Nothing too ostentatious, but something they can keep that they would actually want/like. Average age about 23ish. I've bought a big 'thankyou' cake for all the staff, but these 3 have been special. Ideas??!

A voucher, flowers, chocolate, photo frames, mugs, i once recieved a lovely hand decorated book,

Are the three in the room with him at the moment, or different rooms, i only ask because a few parents (at my nursery) that have left recently, have singled out specific staff completly ignoring all the others who have looked after their child, and it can be quite hurtful to others when this is done.

e.g two examples -

Parent one - Child been in nursery since a baby, when she left, the parents gave the nursery a gift, and a £5 gift voucher to every member of staff that had looked after the child. We all felt appreciated.

Parent two - Gave out gifts to the last room the child had been in, and wrote a letter to the nursery about how wonderful it was being here for the last 4 years, didn't want to name any names but x, x and x were the best anyone could ask for to look after their child (these were the people who recieved gifts) the parent had never given gifts out in the rest of the childs time at nursery, even though lots of us had looked after him.

To be honest most nursery staff do like recieving gifts, but i would be very careful how you give out gifts, and what you give.

Thank you - good advice. 2 staff are in current room, although one of those was in previous room but got moved, and one is from when a baby. I like the voucher idea though, seems more inclusive. I now feel a big hole in my bank account coming on...!

What is nice would prob be a card in which you could put a voucher and a personal message and then it is not so obvious that you were giving out specific gifts.

And as you say a gift/cake/chocolates for the whole nursery aswell.

It is nice to know that we are appreciated

I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the staff at this nursery - I've written a big letter - in big type! - to put on the noticeboard in their staffroom saying how fantastic they have all been. Good nursery staff are so under-rated. They should be paid fortunes in my book. Thanks for your advice, very much appreciated.
