dd started nursery 2 months ago, now she screams when I try to take her home

Dd started nursery (5 mornings) in december. SHe is 19 months old. My other 3 dc stayed at home with me till they were 5 years old, so I had some reservations (to say the least) in letting her go, but it was decided it was for the best.

Anyway, I was worried she would scream when I dropped her off. But I have the opposite problem. She now barely musters a smile when I come in to collect her, then I basically have to dress her kicking and screaming, force her into the piushchiar. Today she howled the whole way home

Of course, it's totally wonderful if she is so happy there, but I also feel sad and embarrassed that she doesn't seem happy to see me or come home with me.

So, is this normal? WIll she grow out of it? Any tips? HOnestly I'm starting to dread collecting her iyswim.

I think many children go through a phase like this - ds went to full time nursery from 6 mths when I went back to work with no issues around dropping off or collecting - always v happy but he went through a phase when he was about 2 of not wanting to leave - you just have to grin and bear it - by the time we got in the car and set off home he was fine. Much better that he doesn't want to leave nursery than screaming because he doesn't want to go I guess

I think it's pretty normal at that age, and it's more about them finding transitions difficult rather than wanting to stay at nursery or not come home. If you always collect at the same time, maybe you could ask the nursery staff to give her 10 and 5 minute warnings that it's almost home time so she's prepared?
