What to expect at settling in days?

DS starts nursery at beginning of Feb and I am going to some settling in days in the two weeks prior to this.

Can anyone tell me what to expect, and how long we will be there for?

Thanks.

Hi. My DS (10 months) started nursery this week and had three settling in sessions. The first was an hour and a half, the second was an afternoon and the third was a whole day. At the first session, I had a brief chat with the baby room supervisor about DS and she answered some of my questions. She also gives me a diary when I come to pick him up which basically tells me about his day i.e. what he'd eaten, when he'd slept, when he'd had his nappy changed, etc. I had to take it home after the first session and write down details regarding his routine so they can try and stick to it. He's only been there a few days but he loves it so far.

When I settled DD in at 12 months we did:

Monday - we went together I filled in forms in the room whilst she explored and had some water and snack with the other children. I took a few photos of DD and her keyworker and the other staff members, so we could look at them at home.

Tuesday - 1 hour (I waited in the reception area)

Weds - 2 hours

Thursday - 9am-1pm (so she could eat lunch)

Friday - 8.30am-2.30pm (so she could eat lunch and nap)

I wrote it all down and happen to have my notebook next to me

When DD was in the baby room they had a book which they wrote in - nappies, what they ate and how much, what they played with. I always spent time at collection talking to the staff
