Hi There

I have visited three nurseries and I liked all three of them for different reasons. The main things that set them apart are as follows:

No1: Pros: Has a very good care commission report; loved the staff and v enthusiastic manager; nice baby room and a garden area cons: didnt like the food (heinz tomato food and gave quavers/ skips as snacks a couple of times a week therefore I would have to take in my own food every day.

No2: Pros: Loved the building - v new and good outdoor spaceand good location, loved the baby room; cons: previously had a bad report but made big improvements and under new management and is now classed as "adequate" by the care commission; .

No3: Pros: Right next door to work; really nice staff; take babies out for walks every day without fail; very big rooms; follows the norwegian nursery philosophy of promoting as much outdoor play a day. cons: brand new nursery so no care commission report.

If anyone has the time to look at this and maybe give me some advice on what should be my main criteria for choosing, that would be great.

Thanks

I'd go for #3, because I don't see the absence of a report as a particularly big con. If the food were better it would probably be a toss-up between that and #1 but (a) just as an issue in itself the food would bother me, and (b) I would be wondering whether, if nursery #1 couldn't be bothered to feed the children properly, there were other issues bubbling away under the surface as well.

#2 you just don't sound so enthused by -- perhaps you loved the baby room but were more ambivalent about the other rooms? I certainly don't pick up that you had as good a vibe about it.

#3 for all the reasons you said
the daily walks would swing it for me, as would the mention of the norwegian phiosophy(they know a lot about good childcare)

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this!! Just been out for dinner with friends and they have all agreed that food thing would swing it for them too! Think I might go and second visit to other two! Thanks again.
