I'm thinking of sending my DD here... She's just 1, and would be going one day a week, whilst i am working. Does anyone out there have children there? Are you happy?

I was also considering Little Starz and Asquiths.

As a first time mum I'm feeling a bit apprehensive, so any help would be appreciated!!

My daughter (11 months) has just started there this week. Only 2 afternoons a week at the moment, but she'll be going for 2 full days from next month.

At the moment I'm feeling unsure about the place, tbh. Though I should add that my daughter is getting very upset when I leave (as is normal, I guess), so I've not necessarily got the most objective eyes. The staff have all changed from my original visit, and it's not how I expected it would be. On the plus side, I've met a couple of the other parents whose babies are already settled there, and they are very positive about it.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes, anyway.

Hi Sheenguth. Unfortunately I decided to put her in a different nursery. I witnessed and overheard a few things I wasn't happy with, personally. And ultimately I wasn't comfortable leaving my daughter there. But I have to reiterate that I met other parents who were more than happy with Teddies....so it might just be me! In addition, I raised my concerns with the manager when I decided to take my daughter out, and she was very understanding and sympathetic. I wouldn't say that it's all bad at all - and it may very well be right for you and your daughter, but personally I didn't like the way the babies were spoken to, and I also didn't feel particularly well communicated with in regard to my daughter's experiences there. I think mine is a very personal view though (I am a bit over-protective of my DD!)- bit of a shame there are no other voices on here to add to my experience of Teddies.

Hi there

Sorry to come into this conversation so late, but just to give you another perspective. We shifted our Son (2) from Asquith in West Dulwich to Teddies. We think it is brilliant. We shifted him because he had had lots of different carers at Asquith and we didn't think that the staff turnover in his room was well managed. (That said, we'd had a very happy association with Asquith up until that point - having placed our older son there from 10 months until 3 and a half).

What we like about Teddies is:

  1. the room staff have been consistent (same people since August last year) 2)the rooms are calm and the children do activities clearly linked to their learning themes (last week we got an orange sent home with a picture Sam had done of an orange and he had 2 new words in his vocab - kiwi and mango)
  2. the staff are welcoming, friendly and very knowledgable about his day
  3. he is happy!

We made our decision to go there based on conversations we had with a couple of local doctors who sent their children there who said good things about it.

I know its a tough decision - good luck!
