Employer wants to shut workplace nursery- any advice on how to stop this?

My employer announced today that it wants to close down the wonderful on site nursery. For years it has tried to divest itself of the nursery, trying (and giving up) on a tendering process; whilst failing to invest in maintenance above emergency repairs.

Despite this the wonderful staff continue to deliver high quality childcare, being rated as Good by Oftsed just a couple of months ago. There are issues, but we parents believe they can be addressed.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we might convince our employer that such a nursery is an asset rather than a liability?

why does your employer want to close down the nursery?

Just a couple of thoughts;

Would there be a lot of people who would say they wouldnt be able to carry on working if they sold the nursery? Might persuade them a bit?

Or is there anyone who would take it on? If trhe company just want to close it they presumably dont think it is worth much, so would they let someone take it over as a going concern.
