What to pack each day for Nursery

Hi everyone,

My dd is 13 months and will be starting nursery in just over a month. We went for a visit at our local nursery and absolutely love it, so she will be starting there in March. My question is, what do we need to send with her every morning? This is what I have so far:

  • 6 terry nappies
  • roll of liners
  • spare wrap
  • wetbag (for the soiled ones)
  • pack of wipes
  • tub of petroleum jelly
  • 2 cups with her milk ready mixed in them
  • 1 cup with juice ready mixed
  • complete change of clothes including socks and vest top
  • coat, hat and mittens for when they go out
  • 2 bowls and spoons for meals
  • a couple of dummies

I know these all need to be labelled, but am I missing anything?

I'm sure the nursery will advise. Our DD's nursery had a storage area for each child so you could keep wipes, nappy cremes, comforters etc at the nursery and not be lugging things back and forth as much.

Our nursery was happy to provide cows milk, or mix formula milk fresh for each feed.

I'm sure juice would be offered, and bowls and spoons provided.

agree with paddington, the stuff you use everyday like nappies should be able to be stored at nursery - we used dispoables so would just supply a bumper pack every few weeks when they shouted that they were running out.

My DT's are full time, so we take a freshly packed bag every monday with their spare clothes in and take it home on a friday if there haven't been too many accidents in the week. Leave hats scarves and gloves there, we have a nursery set that just stay there all week and we bring home to wash at weekends.

Bowls and spoons should be provided, we just used to take in empty bottles for their milk once they were past one as they went onto cows milk. Juice should be provided during the day anyway and they will all be given their own labeled cups.

ask the nursery. they are all different. your list sounds like alot. One nursery my ds went to I provided all weather appropriate clothing plus spare top/trousers/socks, plus his bottle of milk - they provided everything else including nappies. The one he is at now I just put spare clothes in bag and again nursery provides everything else (including nappy cream/ suncream etc - unless you want a particular sort). IMO a nursery that provides everything is fantastic as there is so much less to remember every day.

Gosh this makes me appreciate our nursery - they provide everything including nappies! I just take her coat and hat etc - which she wears on the way there anyway. I don't even bother taking spare clothes - they have some there in her size and it's rare she needs them.

At 13 months, DS took 5 nappies a day, plus had a spare two, wrap, liners and wetbag which lived at nursery for emergencies, wetbag, full change of clothes, and coat.

Wipes/cream/milk/drinks/cups/bottles etc all provided at ours (and at DS's first nursery disposables if you used them), but wipes and cream are nursery dependant

Thanks for all your suggestions. The nursery said we needed to provide her milk ready mixed and that they would put it in the fridge at the nursery. But they didn't really mention anything else as far as bowls and spoons or things like that. I think maybe I'll take the basics for her first day and if I'm missing anything they can let me know.
