HI All,
Going round the twist here!!!!!!!! My son attented a BB's Nursery for a long time only i had to withdraw him due to their lack of care and negligence with accident forms.
Since leaving i have been bribed, threatened and lied to about issues raised and money owing.

Is there anyone else here who has suffered this kind of treatment.

People like these give reputable nurseries a bad name.

From Butty mum of 2 of which one disabled.

This was a long time ago, but my employer provides nursery places. They pulled all kids en masse out of a BB nursery after so many complaints. THey moved to another chain nursery & were much happier.

When my friend took her baby in one morning, was told - leave her on the floor, we'll pick her up in a bit!. Tinies were left to feed themselves. Massive staff turnover - etc, etc

Over the years I've done work at a number of nursery chains... can't say I liked any of them. Its often the individual manager that makes the nursery what it is - though some chains are very specific about how the nursery is run, thus all nurseries in the chain are the same.

0845 601 4772 - ANYONE with children in a nursery in England, make a note of that number. It puts you in touch with Ofsted complaints who will be very pleased to hear from you. They won't deal with Financial matters (as that is between you and the nursery) but will be concerned about the standard of care, meals, cleanliness, toys and activites provided, staffing levels, incorrect info on accidents forms, inaccruate daily diarys, educational matters etc.

Well, get this... my daughter who was 5mnths at the time caught impetigo from a nursery while I was just going for an interview, I was offered the job but found my baby in a filthy baby room sobbing and no one batting an eyelid, needless to say I did not accpet the job and pity anyones children who are left there!

Im a nanny

about 5 years ago when i was young and less experainced and i was dropping off my 1 year old charge i saw a tiny baby (5 / 6 months MAX, in a highchair being SCREAMED at and i mean SCREAMED at for not eating breakfast!
If i ever saw such thing again i would report it etc.

Was horrified.

Enough to insure i will NEVER EVER send my own kids to nursary. (playschool when they are 3 yes, but nursary when they are tiny.... NO WAY

I know of alot of other things that im sure they would rather parents didnt know as well.

Pol25 · 26/04/2005 13:33

Been chatting online to a girl who works in a nursery and confess I called ofsted and they said they would check it out. Children being starpped into their pushchairs if they are 'naughty' for things I would not deem as naughty, just being little children. Surely they should have better behavioural policies. Sure they don't tell parents, "yes if you son/daughter is misbehaving they will be strapped in a pushchair until they have cried enough it makes us feel good." Utterly shocked and cross that these types of ppl work with children.

Thank you for that helpful observation NannyL. Day nurseries are not all bad and some of us can't afford a nanny.
Butty's experiences and others on here are not good, I agree, but don't tar them all with the same brush.

bundle · 26/04/2005 13:40

nannyL
there are good and bad nurseries. and there are good and bad nannies. the same I assume applies to playschools, where children could be treated badly if the care wasn't up to scratch, so it's a shame you choose to damn the good quality care which many parents choose for their children. did you report this terrible incident at the time?

Fio2 · 26/04/2005 13:41

I had an awful experience with a well known nursery chain/teaching method school but all the other nurseries I have used have been wonderful and my children ahve benefitted from them immensely. My son really enjoys his current nursery and is blooming

Fio2 · 26/04/2005 13:42

mind you i went to look at one and could hear the woman who runs it SHOUTING AT THE TOP OF HER VOICE, and she carried on all the time i was looking round and SHOUTED AT THE KIDS CONSTANTLY, wouldnt hug them was a vile place

bundle · 26/04/2005 13:42

marina

nannyL, i suppose i could afford a nanny, given that i've been paying two lots of nursery fees for my 2 dd's...but i chose not to because i prefer a nursery environment (one which i am heavily involved in the running of, as it is a community nursery).

ZolaPola · 26/04/2005 13:48

IMO can't generalise on nursery brand - we used a brilliant asquith creche yet when we moved I was appalled by local Asquith and how downtrodden &unmotivated the staff were. also building v v cramped. need to look at each branch individually.

butty · 27/05/2005 15:33

just to let you all know that since my last post the managers of this company have decided to ignore all correspondance with myself regading neglect to my son and also regarding the accounts. I have now filed to take them to a tribunal for neglect, ignorance and well being of all children in their care as other mums have now come forward!! I will keep you all posted. I have a feeling this nursery could be in deep water!!!

Butty, best of luck with the court case.

butty · 11/07/2005 12:29

Cheers marina, it's only taken 18 months to get here. After all there ignorance with this matter i hope they get what they deserve for the sake of all parents who have had problems with them, which i know is quite a few!! Apparantly the care is still appalling, but not many nurseries in the area so poor parents left with not many options.!!
