Getting fed up with this but WWYD?

For the last 2 weeks DD has come home from nursery every single day either in her spare vest or not wearing one. Every day her dirty nappy has "leaked" onto her vest. (one day it was two vests leaked onto)

We've had 2 weekends in between and she has managed to end 4 much longer days in the same vest as she started off in.

So either she is eating something odd at nursery that doesn't agree with her; pooing more often; or they aren't changing her quickly enough. I suspect it's the latter.

I haven't said anything yet because I asked once if they could put a cloth bib under the pelican bib they were using because the neckline of all her clothes was getting stained, and they got huffy about it and keep mentioning it (I was polite and it was only after a supply nursery worker had actually used 2 bibs all week while the keyworker was off, and we had no stained clothes).

Would you mention it? I have bought the next size up nappies to see if that helps

how many nappy changes does she have per day?

sounds like her nappies may not be fastened well enough

catweazle · 26/10/2008 19:28

According to her book 3- 5 times per day (between 8.30am and 4.30pm, and obviously she's in a clean one at about 8am before we leave home)

that sounds fine to me

how old is she? Does she drink a lot at nursery?

I would check the staff are fastening correctly

speak to them about it - 2 weeks of sodden clothing should be discussed

I'd phone up to say you want to have a chat with keyworker about a couple of issues you're not happy with.
Discuss everything in a professional and cordial manner - the nursery should respond accordingly.
You pay the nursery for a service, they're not doing you a favour.

Keyworker getting huffy over an extra bib, or at anything you request at all, is unprofessional, impolite and unacceptable. If they have a problem with your request they should tell you why it's not possible.

She's 19 months.

So I'm NBU getting fed up with this then?

I will try to have a word.

My ds used to have what they called 'exploding' nappies at nursery, and often came home in a spare vest. I think they weren't changing him quickly enough - or leaving a wet nappy on for too long, which caused poo to leak out when he DID do one.
I (slightly) pointedly said each time 'we don't have this problem at home / this only happens when he's here' or words to that effect and left it at that. I tried the next nappy size up, too, but it didn't make any difference. In the end I just accepted it, but by then he was only going in 3 days a week, so it wasn't so bad for me.
That said, YANBU!
