Nursery/nanny share in East Dulwich

Anyone have a good nursery or nanny they would recommend in East Dulwich? We are looking at moving from Clapham to Dulwich in a couple of months and need to know about childcare before doing so. I have heard horror stories of huge waitlists though.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there
The waiting lists are to infinity and beyond here in SE22. How old is your DC? I have a childminder whom I found on Children's Information Services website who is amazing and my DS1 2y 6m goes to a fabulous pre-school called Buds, 2 mornings a week which doesn't tend have a huge waiting list, although at least 1 day a week is usually full.
Good nurseries are Gumboots (no appointments to even look round until 2009), Nelly's Nursery (towards W. Dulwich - waiting list 2yrs) and First Steps Montessori (babies from 18m, waiting list dep on age but 6mths-1yr I think)
Good luck

Spent ages looking into this when I was pregnant. Nursery provision for under twos in East Dulwich is poor - very few of the nurseries take under-twos and there are massive waiting lists, high prices and poor-quality premises (with no decent outside spaces).

hi ruby, we managage to get DD into Bojangles ( upland road) at short notice though had to be flexible with days for this month. looks tatty but dd seems happy by 3rd day of induction ignored us when we arrived to collect her too busy playing. a friend who is a health visitor said her friends were happy with the place and they seem to do fun things most days . unsure why it's so expensive ( much much more than Mother Goose) ofsted was mainly 'goods' have you checked out east dulwich forum?

Thanks for all your posts, think we will have to put our move on hold until we can find suitable childcare.
Cheers
Sarah

I'm coming to this a little late but if other posters mentioned Nelly's then Ruskin House School should also have been noted. Ruskin House is sort of half way between Herne Hill and North Dulwich stations and, as far as I know, there is no, or only a short waiting list. My daughter has absolutely thrived there and we'll be sorry to take her out next year when she goes to pre-prep.

For all those looking for nurseries in the Herne Hill area. I highly reccommend 2nd steps nursery on Heron Road. The staff are really caring and the mgt and staff make the effort to speak to you in the mornings and when you go to collect. Fantastic nursery
