Can anyone recommend a good nursery in OXFORD please?

We're moving to Oxford in January 2009 and are looking for a nursery for DD who will be 3 and DS who will be 1. Does anyone have any reccommendations? We have looked at Pippins in Headington which looks nice but wanted to see some more before deciding.

Thank you

wow that is massively helpful wearymum - thank you! I have looked at the college nurseries but they all have long waiting lists and give priority to college members. Will have a look at ABC - have heard of that one

Thanks again everyone - feel like I should take you all out for a drink when we get there!

nappyaddict - we don't know yet - maybe Headington,Cowley or Botley - those are the places we have looked at so-far and seem to be the cheapest

may well see you at toddler groups, (I have dc2 on the way, so will be doing a lot of those come January...)!

oh how exciting wearymum - I will look out for a weary-looking mother of two around Headington! Good luck with no.2 - FWIW I found the birth and baby stuff much much easier 2nd time round - juggling two children is quite a different matter however!

Yep, I'll be the one with the really bad rings under her eyes...
Forgot to add that its worth looking at Marston to live too. Slightly cheaper than Headington, but again full of families: university and NHS types. If you're working in the city it also has the advantage that there's no cycling uphill at the end of the day.

just coming back to this...

We are going to be living in Botley we think and can get a place at Turbo Ted's - does anyone know anything about it? There might also be a gov place for DD at West Oxford Community School - any experience of here? Is Botley a bad place to live because of flooding?

Thanks

wonder if wearymum has had her baby yet...

I can wholeheartedly recommend St Thomas' Nursery (near the railway station on the way to the ice rink). Run by a parent committee, very low staff turnover, excellent OFSTED report and my DS (now 2.5 and been there since 11 months) has been so so happy. I cannot speak highly enough of it. Do look at several - nurseries vary hugely in attitudes to parents, children, education, food etc. Good luck!

I hear Turbo Teds is wildly oversubscribed but i fyou have a place...

Osney Island and 'New Botley' ie by PC World does flood, but Botley proper (ie trhe far side if the A34) doesn't usually
