Splitting hours across to settings once they’ve reached reception age

Hi there, I’m hoping someone can help with question. My son is currently three years old and attends a private day nursery. He goes two days a week. He also goes to a nursery school one morning a week. My question is when he turns four and goes into the reception class. Will he automatically be given 30 hours to use in the reception class? Can I split this 30 hours and he goes for 15 hours to the school Nursery and for 15 hours to the private nursery? He is currently getting 15 hours funded because I’m on universal credit. But I’ve been told when he reaches reception age this goes to 30 hours. Is this 30 hours splittable? Or can he use the 15 hours of funding because I’m on universal credit at the private day nursery, and then 15 hours that he would get because he was going to reception? Basically can he do both and will they be covered by either one or the other of the funding pots?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

When he is in reception (so the September after he turns 4) then he will be classed as being in full time education so won’t be eligible for any early years education hours.

if he is in a school nursery then depending on his hours it may be possible to split across settings.

Reception is school - not childcare.
I don't think you get childcare/education "funding" at age 4. It's just school.
Your child will be entitled to a full school day - generally 6 hours a day (36 hours a week).
You don't pay for Reception year so you wouldn't need any funding.

The funding stops when they start reception class.

So it’s from the September after he turns 4 you will commit to one school setting for reception year. Until then you can continue as you are. You will need to apply for school even if he attends the nursery.
