Nursery drop off tips

Does anyone have any tips for nursery drop off?
My DD (3) has just started nursery at the preschool attached to the primary school my elder DD goes to.
Shes finding it tricky and crying on a morning saying she doesn’t want to go, despite seeming to have a nice day when she’s there.
We’re currently managing through bribes (I know 😫) like movie night or the park after pick up but wondered if anyone had any tips to help ease the transition?

I was at the point of pulling my son out of preschool because he was so upset about going. I spoke to the school and we:

  • arrived 15 mins after the start so the rest of the group were already settled and doing an activity so less hectic
  • shortened the session. We did an hour initial and built it up
  • took a cuddly toy in
  • I went in with him and got him settled and showed him the different activities.

Within a week he was totally fine. Before he was waking up crying in the night. I hope the school are supportive x

In addition to the advice of the previous poster: going in earlier when the class is still relatively empty can work when a child is shy or doesn't like the noise (our class is relatively noisy early in the morning).
You can then start an activity together. Hopefully the teacher also has the time for a cuddle/to start a second activity together when you leave if lots of children haven't arrived yet.
