I'm an Ofsted registered Childminder in South Wimbledon with vacancies or are you specifically looking for a nursery? Email me on [email protected] if you're interested

PortAndLemon · 12/06/2008 19:54

The three generally considered to be best in Putney are Gwendolen House, Noddy's and Riverside. There are often waiting lists, though. If you CAT me I can tell you more about the one DS attends (don't want to say which one it is here... privacy issues)

nat35 · 12/06/2008 20:21

Fruity, at the moment I am looking for a nursery, but if I change my mind will let you know
P and L, will CAT you later
Thanks

I use Eveline which I can recommend. They have 3 branches (south wimbledon/ raynes park and tooting). Never had any prolems. They are fab.

winegums · 14/06/2008 07:57

My DD is at Active Learning in Fulham. have you contacted them?

nat35 · 15/06/2008 13:19

Active learning os deffinitelly one of the options, the only problem is that I would have to drive there.
Micegg, as I dont know the area well, not sure how suitable south wimbledon is, I m looking for something close to Wimbledon station towards Wimbledon Hill. How far is South Wimbledon one?

micegg · 19/06/2008 20:05

In that case try Building Blocks on wimbledon hill. I have heard very good things about that but very £££. Having said that Eveline is not cheap either. There is also one on Dundonald Road which is meant to be good - could be a building blocks as well. Eveline in South Wim is on Quicks Road. If you are not driving then it will be too far out of your way TBH. My DD attends one of the other branches and has done so for over 2 years. Staff seem to stay, most are mature (no young girls), freshly cooked food on site and very well managed. Only critiscm is the cost!

nat35 · 19/06/2008 20:15

Micegg, I will look for Building Blocks, as I will be driving so South Wimbledon might be a poss. As I couldnt find fees list on their web site could you please tell me how much is Eveline?

I believe the branches vary slightly in price but at ours we pay about £57 per day for under 3 and £47 per day for over 3.

micegg · 22/06/2008 21:43

Just realised the nursery I mentioned on wimbledon hill is called playdays. Building blocks is on dundonald road. I have heard good things about both. Not wishing to pry but if your budget is a little tight there is a nusery in the grounds of the nelson hospital on Bushey Road (I think) which is not as expensive as some of the others. We looked at it a few years ago and liked it. It was a little run down as its not-for-profit but the children seemed very happy and the staff were lovely. It just wasnt convenient for work.

nat35 · 30/06/2008 19:28

I arranged a visit to Buildinig blocks, playdays didnt have any full time spaces, however if these others dont look good I ll give them another call and at least put ds on the waiting list. Does anyone know anything about Dee's day nursery in Wimbledon?

My DD1 used to go to Dee's (it is right by Raynes Park station) part time, but it was 3 years ago, so not exactly the up to date information. Back then the were very popular, caring, and fun. I never had any complaints about them, but also didn't feel it was a fabulous nursery IYKWIM.

nat35 · 16/07/2008 19:55

I went to Dee's near Wimbledon hill, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. From the moment I walked through front door I had a very bad feeling, and when they took me through baby sleep room ( which is also used as a corridor) while all of them were sleeping, to show me another room !!! of course as we came back 2 min later all of them were awake, I felt soo bad just thinking how furious I would have been if someone woke up my lo loke that.

Hi nat35

My dc goes to building blocks and really loves it - he is 15 months.
Has been there since Feb 08.

I put my name down on waiting list there when I was pg though and had to wait 9 months b4 I was offered a place! (and that was only for 2 days!!)

I also went to see playdays on wimbledon hill and it was nice but my friend had her children at playdays and building blocks and said that building blocks was better by far, and I see why now!

Playdays did have availaility though so if you need somewhere soon, then this may be your answer.

Hope that helps!

NorthernLurker · 25/07/2008 10:15

nat that sleep room thing is an important indicator I think. The nurseries I have used both had a seperate, quiet space. This was very important for dd2, less so for dd3 who prefers to nap in the quieter baby room on a sleep mat. Naps are such a huge part of a babies day and I think that if you look at a nursery where there isn't an excellent provision for it then it tells you something about the nurseries attitude to your child - and that isn't a good something!

OllieB · 25/07/2008 10:54

Hi - we are new to the fulham area and busy looking for a nursery for our 10m daughter, just wondered if anyone knew anything about the above nursery or which are the good nurseries in the area? Thanks - Anxious mum

FlyingSaucer · 18/08/2008 23:20

A second vote for Active Learning in Fulham (did you post on the other thread - if so sorry for the duplication )

QuintessentialShadows · 18/08/2008 23:25

I cannot recommend Pu tney Da y nursery (formerly as quith co urt), 3 new managers in the same number of years, big staff turn over, while a few old timers are just plain bored and have lost their sparkle.

I did check out Noddys, and was well impressed with the "academic" side, but found it seemed "cold", impersonal and crowded.

neah · 31/08/2008 15:55

My daughter is currently at Dees in Wimbledon and we ABSOLUTELY LOVE it and have been there since January. I think the discussion here is kind of unfair. They have an open door policy and if the visitor came at nap time, well...sometimes I have to walk through at naptime because I have to drop DD off in the baby room. None of them have ever woken up, so I dont know what you experienced.

The toddlers room is NOT a corridor, but you do have to walk through to get to the babies room and the cot room, which is ALWAYS dark and quiet.

The staff are LOVELY, caring, and totally creative, the food is all organic and homemade and we have been totally impressed. We are American and are new to the British system and are impressed with the confidence that dees gives kids, the diversity, and the attention paid to the children, that you do not see at other nurseries that I have visited.

My dd LOVES going to nursery and is in just as good a mood when she gets home, that says something.

Pixiejay · 06/12/2008 13:13

I've visited a few of the nurseries in Putney and was interested what your thoughts were on
Gwendoline House in Putney for babies?? As I'm back to work in APril May and need to find somewhere for my little one . . .

weddingcake · 06/12/2008 13:36

No personal experience but a friend of mine has had her little boy there since he was 11 months and is very happy with it. She also visited all the Putney nurseries and said it was definitely the one with the nicest 'feel'.

abbyarmand · 08/12/2008 13:14

Try Kiddi Caru at Empress State, good ofsted, very welcoming team and decent outdoor play...

anya86 · 11/05/2010 14:11

Hi, I am looking for a childminder in the raynespark area, for my (3yr)twin daughters. Starting september, who could possibly do drop off/pick ups from holly mount. Please let me know if any one knows of any good childmiders in the area.

Thanks

Beefinder · 13/05/2010 23:58

Can anybody recommend any good nursery in the Putney/Wimbledon and also the charges for under 3s. Most of the nursery websites do not show the charges. Planning to move to Wimbledon with our 2 month old. Thanks.Very anxious mom

Grozilla · 22/05/2010 09:54

Have you seen Poppits in the Leisure centre. There fees are reasonable £66.00 for a full day. There Ofsted is good too.
