Looks like nursery manager sacked...

When I picked my ds up from nursery yesterday we were given a two line letter saying that the nursery manager (who only started in January) was no longer working at the nursery. Given the suddeness of it all, I'm assuming she was sacked. The nursery nurses say that they can't discuss the matter. I'm feeling really uneasy about it, I'd like to know why she's been sacked because if it relates to the care of the children I think the parents have a right to know. Am I reading too much into this?

i too would have been curious but could it be serious illness on her behalf whicjh she would not want anyone to know about

i think if anything too bad regarding children you would be informed i think maybe they are respecting her privacy

ask around if anyone knows but remember alot of gossip and speculation can suface i would think maybe illness or maybe money or something but if harm with a child someoene's parent would know about it and you would of heard by now i imagine

Or she could have accepted a job at a competitor and your nursery wanted her to leave right away because they were afraid she'd poach children (as in steal, rather than as in "lightly poached in a bechamel sauce").

at lightly poached

I wouldn't necessarily want to know the details but I would want a statement that it was nothing to do with the care of the children. Surely they can give you that assurance?

I'd want to know why she left - she was the person running the place after all.

Even if the two lines said something like "for personal reasons" that would have given you more insight. I would be forever wondering where she went or what had happened if I were you and I can see why you feel uneasy.

i loved the idea of poached! thanks for everyone's comments.
anyway, i found out today on the grapevine that she's been sacked for 'office irregularities' which i'm presuming means she was siphoning off the fees. feel quite sad for her because it must be such tiny amounts (most things paid by cheque etc to head office) and she seemed nice and had young kids. relieved at least that it was nothing related to the care of the kids.
