What about Poppy's Place from your MN name? My kids go to one called Little Monsters...

bonkerz · 25/05/2008 11:26

i always liked SUNSHINES or BRIGHT SPARKS

fanjolina · 25/05/2008 11:40

or Little Pandas

learningallthetime · 25/05/2008 11:43

I like bright sparks Bonkerz.

You could call it something like rainbow's and then follow that theme inside with the decorating

Teuch · 25/05/2008 11:47

Noughts & Tots (if you takes under 1s')

Sorry!
What about Swallows and Amazons?

Dynamicnanny · 25/05/2008 16:03

Little Monsters - love it

Have you got any fave childrens books - could you not adapt it to name your business, or what is your USP could you not name it around that.

Eg Books - I love Once there were giants so you could be following Giant's footsteps, Footsteps, Giants' little friends, etc

or USP is you have a pond, so Lillypads, The pond dwellers etc

nannynick · 26/05/2008 18:58

Finding a unique name will be tricky, Little Monsters for example in my area is an Art Club.

Perhaps think about when you will be using the name. For example, it will need to appear on your building somewhere, on paperwork, it needs to be your websites URL, etc.

I wouldn't personally try to be too clear with the name, keep it simple. Also think about incorporating the location into the name.

London Day Nursery

The Cambridge Day Nursery (if in Cambridge)

Little Panda's Day Nursery

Any clues as to Geographic location... the name of your town/village/area may inspire a nursery name

Sidge · 27/05/2008 21:45

I dislike really twee names for nurseries.

Keep it simple and obvious - makes it easier for prospective parents to find you when Googling/using Yell.com. etc.

2boys2 · 02/06/2008 05:21

how about "giggles" nursery?

Tutter · 02/06/2008 05:31

agree with sidge and nannynick - avoid cheesy names and keep it simple. i would never even consider sending my kids to Little Cherubs or Giggles nurseries -- it's a serious business having someone care for your kids, no?

i'd go for something that links it to its location or building?

e.g. Green Lane (Day) Nursery, or, The Gables (Day) Nursery

twentypence · 02/06/2008 05:44

Do not use "cute" but wrong spellings. I refuse point blank to look at anything like Kiwi Kidz Nursery. I won't even send ds to "Outaskool" the after school club. I wouldn't send him to Little Monsters for similar reasons.

Incorporate your location somehow.

Littlefish · 02/06/2008 07:09

I'm with Tutter on this! Avoid the cheesy names at all costs.

berolina · 02/06/2008 07:43

ds1's kindergarten (urban area) is called Town Mice (there is the additional meaning that in German 'mouse' is a common term of endearment for small children). I like that, and don't think it's particularly twee. But Little Cherubs or, God forbid, Cheeky Monkeys -

berolina · 02/06/2008 07:44

(the kindergarten is in Germany, in case that wasn't clear )

Street Name Day Nursery

Means when people need to look up the number of that lovely nursery they drove past they will know where in the phone book to go.

Whole street of shops near me uses this idea, but with the suburb

so we have Suburb Cycles, Suburb Dairy, Suburb Fish and Chips, Suburb Alterations. the only one that doesn't is the hairdresser - which I've never been to because I can't look it up in the book for the phone number to make an appointment.

branflake81 · 03/06/2008 16:40

I too loathe twee names for nursery. It's like calling a care home "Old Biddies".

Call it something simple like the name of the street.

Ecmo · 03/06/2008 16:42

notwee nursery

wheresthehamster · 03/06/2008 16:47

The Children's House

House of Children

Little Legs

Little People

Could all incorporate a place name e.g. The Brighton Little Legs, The Brighton House of Children

Astrophe · 03/06/2008 16:49

LOL at "Little Shits" and "Old Biddies".

I agree, no spelling with 'z's (Kidz etc), and please, please nothing that implies book learning for little children (Little Scholars, Baby Genius, Clever Kidz...I even loath the Early Leaning Centre...)

Something like: Apple Tree Nursery (if you have an apple tree there, so much the better), Woodlands nursery, Hilltop Nursery, Valley Nursery etc, or, failing that, Green (whatever) Street Nursery.
