Cancelling nursery space

Is it acceptable to cancel my child’s nursery space? She is due to start in September, we signed up start of this year and paid a deposit. Due to the long wait between start of the year and September, I had to look for alternative childcare to fill in the gap due to work. She’s now at a childminders been there since April and very settled there, feels a shame to unsettle her again and take her somewhere else. Plus the nursery will cost me a lot more monthly and isn’t open during half terms unlike the childminder. Is it acceptable to cancel her space or is that too short notice? Any opinions appreciated.

Of course you can cancel. Check the policy for cancellation terms.

Check your contract as it may include a notice period or loss of deposit.
It is fine to cancel and use alternative child care for a y reason that you like.

Totally fine. That’s why they take deposits (and you might also need to pay the first month or something) to cover the possibility of this happening.

Depending on the area, they probably have a waiting list so someone else can slot in.

It's fine to cancel but I expect you'll lose the deposit.

Of course you can cancel but you will probably lose your deposit. I would do it sooner rather than later or you might get charged the first month's fees.

Just cancel and lose the deposit.
Do it asap though so you don't end up owing the first month's fees too.

Its fine to cancel but check their cancellation policy as they may require you to pay the first term (happened to us)

Yes, you cancel and lose your deposit. Job done. Don't stress.
