Multiple nursery changes - opinions

Sorry for the long post but I’d like other peoples opinions 😃
my child is 3 in June. He started a nursery at 7m which we loved but it closed down last August due to finances. He then started another nursery which we did not like at all. It Seemed chaotic, could not build a relationship with staff cause there was that many and other issues. We weren’t happy keeping him there so we moved him to a school nursery approx 10-15 minutes away from home but next to family.
our issues now is do we apply for him to go to reception/school there? There are two primary schools closer to us which have a good reputation. Partner isn’t keen as it means moving him again, but I’m thinking about the future, making the journey each day as it’s up to an hour each day, making friends in a different village etc

he isn’t a child who struggles to settle in places which is good.

Also would like to say he was at the second nursery 3 months but there were multiple things we weren’t happy with

My ds1 went to nursery near dh work, about half an hour drive away. Then he went to the local primary school where he didn't know anyone. He was fine, settled down and made friends straight away.

I'd go for the local schools – all of primary is a long time to be doing that commute, much less convenient for playdates and birthday parties, and even harder when he gets to the age where they start making their own social arrangements.

Agree with pp, I would chose local school

Bobbybobbins · 02/05/2025 11:55

Agree with the above- go for local school.

I'd go for one of the local school. He'll settle ok and there will be lots of new children and others who don't know anyone. It'll be worth it for local friendships through school.

There's more chance of him then going to secondary school with his friends, and that will be far more important to him at 11 than it currently is at 4.

Thank you for the replies everyone 😃 I think our worry is that he’s changed nurseries a few times now (out of our control) and we’re worried this will have an impact on him x
