Tips for starting nursery

My 10m old has been going to settling in sessions this week before I go back to work when they'll be doing 2 full days at nursery. The thing I'm most nervous about is illness and am expecting us to all be ill for 6-12m constantly. Is there anything I can do to prepare? I'm also nervous about nighttime sleep, currently our baby has been sleeping through for the last 3 months or so, is it just a given that this will all stop when they start Nursery?

The only reason the sleeping through with stop is because of the illness.

We have been giving our child sambucol and he has been at nursery 6 weeks not sure it makes a difference but other mums swear by it. We have had some awful sickness but what can you do just ride it out.

Heard it is minimum 3 months illness constant and some say up to 5 months.

However you are starting in nice weather so probably a bit less then the first winter will be hard too.

I Don't think sleep will change if already sleeping through, it's helped my DD to sleep through 😂

she started in Jan and has been off twice so far. But has gained many coughs and colds.

It’s not a given that starting nursery = constant illness! My daughter avoided all bugs for her first year having started at a year old for 2 days a week. I don’t really know how but she was fine - has been hit much more in her second year!
Sleep-wise her nursery days wipe her out at night which is great!
You won’t know until it happens, keep an open and positive mind and hopefully the illnesses hit on the days they aren’t at nursery!!

Even if you get “constantly” ill it’s not like the worst illness you’ve ever had for months on end…it’s just that I have a slight sore throat every other week, and more often than not have a slightly runny nose from a low lying cold. Rarely have a stomach bug.
Save up a few days of AL, ask up front at work how they would like you to approach needing time off for your baby being ill (my boss is fine with a quick email, no need to fill in any forms on the day). Maybe get the chicken pox jab if you can afford it. But honestly it’ll be fine. Enjoy your working days - I do!
