Just looking for reassurance, anxious mum here.

How long did it take for your baby to settle in nursery, if they were quite fussy/nervous baby?

How old is your baby? That does sometimes impact how quickly they settle. Some babies settle immediately while others can take a few weeks, the more sessions they have spaced through the week the quicker they get to know the environment and bond with the staff caring for them. For example, a baby going once a week may take longer than a baby going three times a week.

Start of week 4 started settling

My baby wasn't necessarily fussy or nervous but she still took six weeks, going 3x a week, at a year old to settle in. It can take a little bit of time x

Both my dcs went into full time nursery around 11 months. Prior to going in, I was looking after them on maternity leave but had to transition them to nursery in order to go back to work.

They are the fussiest babies ever (I blame dh) and would not go for naps except if they were in a buggy and would only sleep for short periods of time 20 mins whilst lying still and flat after which I would have to wheel them around in the buggy to keep them asleep. I co-slept because they were such bad sleepers.

Both of them settled at nursery and was napping in cots with the other babies within a month. The nursery initially got a kind worker to cuddle them to sleep in their arms and then slowly to lower them onto a mat. If they stirred the worker would continue to cuddle. But within a week or two, they were following the rest of the babies in sleeping in the cots etc.

I could not believe it. Something to be said for peer pressure.

Don't be worried if your baby cries at drop off and at pick up. It might seem they were crying the whole day but if you peek through the window, they are probably perfectly fine once you are out of their sight.

That is why nursery workers will not want you to linger too long at drop off.

It depends what sort of fussy. DD1 was a super difficult baby. But she settled (at just one) almost instantly. I think her fussy was because she always wanted to be entertained and see new things so got bored at home, but thrived at nursery.

If fussy is more about clinginess or nervousness, things might be different.

12 months.

Fussy, as will only be happy near parents.
