Starbucks voucher for teachers ?

Hi all,

my daughter is leaving her nursery in 2 weeks and she’s been there just under 2 years, I got her primary carer a nice Christmas gift and a box of chocs for all the other staff, I did feel a little guilty though as I know they all chip in and help
with each others groups, so as a leaving gift I thought I would get them a nice card and a Starbucks or Costa voucher like 40gbp so they could all grab a coffee each and maybe some biscuits or a desert of there choice (it would be one gift card for them all l) i wouldn’t mind putting them all a little gift bag of hand cream/face mask and stuff together but I don’t even know exactly how many they are, what do you think ? Good idea or is it a little silly ? Maybe a hamper of chocolates or beauty stuff ?

Coffee vouchers are my go-to token gift for my children’s teachers/coaches. What’s not to like? Don’t like hot drinks or cake? Get a bottle of water and a bag of crisps! I’d opt for separate smaller ones over a group one though.

Agree with PP! Specific coffee shop vouchers are risky as lots of people dislike various coffee shops and lots of people prefer to spend their money in smaller chains

Starbucks or Costa vouchers (whatever you have locally) is a great choice. I would find out how many staff normally work in the room and get one each, even if that means only £5 or £7.50 per person that’s still enough for a coffee or cake. Don’t bother with hand cream or face mask.

It’s not their money though, it’s a gift.

I always do Costa as there is one down the road - even if they don't like coffee you can get diet coke or a cake or crisps! Something for everyone!

I don't understand how a single shared gift card would work. Are you expecting then to all go out together? Or if not, what if the last person to take the card finds there's not enough left on it for them? Or someone loses the card, or doesn't get round to passng it to the next person?

Poor phrasing on my part.

But either way it’s a gift they can’t use.

We have a delivery service here so I was thinking they could all grab a coffee/milkshake or whatever they like on there lunch break and have it delivered or a couple go and grab them, something for them to all enjoy together, maybe It’s better though to ask the manager how many staff they are and get them one each for Gbp5 might be more than 40gbp as I’m pretty sure they are more then 8 in the center but I don’t mind they have been very good with our daughter.

I just don't think one gift card would work between several people.

Why is it a gift they can't use? They can't use it to buy a coke, crisps, a baguette or a cake, just because they prefer to spend their own money in an independent? It's not useless or
invalid just because it's for a chain coffee shop. Some people probably prefer Costa/Starbucks/Cafe Nero anyway.

I'd probably opt for Amazon vouchers if I was buying the same thing for so many people. I don't drink coffee and would never visit a chain coffee restaurant. The food is usually rubbish and it would annoy me to go out of my way for the sake of a bag of tea in a cup of water when every kitchen and office in the land is equipped to make a reasonable cup of tea.

Sunshineclouds11 · 17/01/2025 19:12

I've done this for the last two year, I did get individual ones though.
One TA came over to say thank and that she's looking forward to a fancy hot choc as she doesn't drink coffee.
