Choosing nursery - allegations/OFSTED

We are looking for childcare for the end of next year. Everywhere is full and we are on several waiting lists. I need to return to work so need to find somewhere for him to go! We have found a nursery with spaces. It's easily accessible on our commute and has been running for 10 years.
When I went to read their OFSTED report, it says that there'd been an allegation this year against a member of staff. When OFSTED investigated they found that some staff weren't up to date with first aid, staff weren't trained on reporting child protection issues and key workers didn't have a strong enough bond with their children. They say they have taken steps to rectify these and OFSTED closed the case.

Would you send your child there? It would potentially only be for a year before he starts school nursery. We are first time parents so not sure what to do!

I would be most concerned by children not having a strong bond with their key worker. This is essential for a small child. It would be a no from me.

Safeguarding is not a space for negotiation. That coupled with the keyperson comment would have me running a mile.

No. Those are quite serious failings.

If they aren't training their staff on such fundamental issues,then what else are they not doing properly?

You could try contacting the nursery and say hi I'm a prospective parent, I've read this report and it worried me - before I make a decision about sending my child here, could you please tell me about what steps you've taken to address these concerns? You may find, for example, that there has been a change of management and that the new manager is really on the ball and has turned everything around. They can tell you about how the new keyworker system works, and that all staff have had refreshed training, and all these other things. That may reassure you that the same problems won't happen again. Or you may find that they try to minimise and make excuses for what happened, "oh it was actually all just paperwork and we had some staff sickness that day and the inspector saw us with some temp staff who were nervous and didn't give a good impression, really it was nothing". You may find that less reassuring.
